I have been head over heels in love with testing the clean fragrance brand Abbott NYC and all their luscious nature-inspired scents. Founded by Jose Alvarez and Michael Pass and now in Sephora stores, Abbott is clean, PETA certified vegan and cruelty-free and eco-driven. Abbott sets itself from other clean fragrance brands by celebrating the vast wonders of the American outdoors through their perfumes. Their mission is to create healthy and conscious fragrances using the cleanest and most sustainable ingredients. Abbott scents are designed by two senior perfumers who have made scents for Burberry, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs among others. Started by Canadian entrepreneur Sasha Plasvic, ILIA is a wildly popular clean makeup brand sold everywhere from Sephora to Nordstrom. Here’s the lowdown on ILIA Beauty. The brand started off as an all-natural makeup brand, but later switched to include synthetics so they could appeal to the masses. And it worked! In 2022 ILIA was acquired by a major corp. In 2020 ILIA dropped a new product called the Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 and it has to be the most hyped natural beauty launch of this decade so far. Two years later, the ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint 40 remains a controversial product – people either love it or hate it. The skin-forward product combines not only skincare and suncare but also makeup for a 3-in-1 beauty product that fights the sun’s UV rays, repairs skin underneath and provides makeup coverage. But is it right for you? Read on for my honest review of the ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40.
Alpyn Beauty is a sustainably sourced skin care line formulated with a proprietary blend of wildcrafted alpine botanicals grown in the mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. If there’s one product you have to try from the Alpyn Beauty line, it’s the Wild Huckleberry 8 Acid Polishing Peel and the new Alpyn Beauty Triple C Bounce Cream. Read on for my Alpyn Beauty review.
Founded by former beauty exec Amy Liu, Tower 28 is an affordable clean makeup brand formulated for even the most sensitive skin. Tower 28 contains no fragrance or essential oils and are the only brand to 100% follow the National Eczema Association ingredient guidelines. Now here’s why you need to read this before you buy Tower 28. Like many new clean beauty lines that have entered the market, Tower 28 is not all-natural or organic and does include synthetics, some of which may raise many an eyebrow in the clean beauty community. I noticed that the brand uses the word “non-toxic” often in their About and Philosophy sections, which can easily mislead people into thinking they’re natural and organic. This is very different to what other similar clean makeup brands, who have been around longer, put on their websites. Instead of saying they’re non-toxic, they are transparent in stating that they mix synthetic ingredients with natural ones, and undergo toxicological analysis to ensure their safety. While I think they should focus more on transparency, Tower 28 is available at Credo Beauty, which is why I had the opportunity to test the Shine On Lip Jelly, BeachPlease Luminous Tinted Balm, Bronzino Illuminating Bronzer and SOS Daily RescueFacial Spray. Read on for my Tower 28 review.
I’ve been testing more natural Korean sunscreens with mineral UV filters and my favorite find so far has been the Pestlo Safe Recipe Sun Essence SPF 50. Using zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to provide a high sun protection factor of SPF 50, the Safe Recipe sunscreen provides adequate protection, has a very enjoyable texture and consistency and dries matte. There’s something special about this year’s spring – in 2022 two years after the pandemic started and all our lives were turned upside down and inside out, it seems like we are finally feeling a bit of reprieve in our new normal. Spring 2022 marks a new beginning of a very different era. While self care was a major part of our lives during uncertain times, I’d love to continue to prioritize indulging in the things that make me happy, REST, and being content with where I’m at now in this present moment. There have been some uber cool product launches this year already, so I’ve created a wishlist of what I’m drooling over this spring.

Korea is undoubtedly the global leader in skincare innovation but only has a handful of natural and organic K-beauty skincare brands. Ever heard of BB creams or sheet masks? They were invented in Korea, the mecca of all things beauty. In fact, many Western companies will go to Korea to learn their techniques, technology and industry practices. While many Korean beauty brands are marketed as natural or clean, most of the time they’re not 100% natural. Aleavia offers a range of face & body cleansers and toning mists that are unique because they’re based on a prebiotic approach to skincare. Kelly, the founder, was searching for all-natural remedies to heal her daughter’s eczema when she disocvered a formulator that had been making prebiotic formulas for years and whose products cleared up the eczema less than a month. Thus began the idea for aleavia.
