Edible Beauty Review

As the name suggests, Edible Beauty is a natural skincare brand that’s so pure you could eat it! Hailing from Australia, these luxurious products are made of 100% mineral, vitamin and botanical derived ingredients and are vegan, cruelty-free and packaged in completely sustainable materials. Edible Beauty carries a wide range of products from natural skincare to teas and sunscreen to multi-purpose balms. In this Edible Beauty review, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on their tonic serums and their Sephora bestseller No. 3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum.

Edible Beauty was founded by Anna Mitsios, a Naturopath and Nutritionist, who was diagnosed with Diabetes I at 18 and began searching for natural solutions to help manage the auto-immune condition. She later worked as a naturopath in a Sydney fertility clinic, and became frustrated with the lack of safe and clean products for pregnant women. Cue the birth of Edible Beauty.

Now, Edible Beauty is widely available at Sephora and via their website. For the quality, the truly all natural formulas, and sustainable and luxurious glass packaging made in Switzerland, the prices still remain reasonable. The added bonus, they include powerful botanicals native to Australia!

I first started using Edible Beauty in 2019 and would recommend their serums to anyone interested.

No.3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum

Part of Edible Beauty’s Core Four Products is the bestselling No. 3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum. Exotic Goddess serum is essentially a Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum. It features Kakadu Plum, a natural source of Vitamin C native to Australia and impressively has the world’s highest level of Vitamin C.

If you don’t find the L-Ascorbic Acid and other Vitamin C’s agree with your skin, I would suggest trying Edible Beauty’s No. 3 serum. This serum has a thicker consistency but still feels weightless on the skin and absorbs quickly. I found my skin to be seriously hydrated, brighter and clearer while using this serum.

The Edible Beauty Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum is also sold at Sephora as part of their Clean At Sephora collection.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid (Vegan), Glyceryl Caprylate, Citrus Glauca (Desert Lime) Fruit Extract*, Davidsonia Pruriens (Davidson Plum) Fruit Extract*, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Malphigia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract*, Syzgium Luehmannii (Riberry) Fruit Extract*, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract*, Beta-Glucan, Caprylol Glycol, Limonene^

Edible Beauty Turmeric Beauty Latte

The Edible Beauty Turmeric Beauty Latte is a lightweight serum made for acneic, combination, oily and prone to hyperpigmentation skin. It’s packed with herbs and skin superfoods like Wildcrafted Australian White Cypress Leaf and Snow Mushroom Extract and is designed to diminish the appearance of dark spots and hyper-pigmentation.

At first I was a little confused by the names of these products — “tonic, latte, elixir.” Was it a serum? An essence? A toner? A hybrid of these three?

While these can be serums for use on their own, the Turmeric Beauty Latte, Probiotic Radiance Tonic and Deep Sea Collagen Elixir can also be layered with other serums.

The Edible Beauty Turmeric Beauty Latte serum works to promote a clear and glowing complexion using Turmeric to help brighten the skin. I love me a DIY turmeric face mask and I know that this ingredient works wonders for the skin.

All of Edible Beauty’s tonic serums have a similar consistency – lightweight, bouncy and pleasantly goopy. I found myself using up the bottle very quickly, which is why you can never have too many serums on hand. The Edible Beauty serums left my skin super hydrated and I had no pilling issues.

Here is some more in-depth information on the main actives in the Turmeric Beauty Latte for all you skincare nerds:

Turmeric Extract, is rich in curcumin, a potent antioxidant which has been used as an ancient beauty ritual for lightening and brightening the skin. Curcumin also inhibits acne causing bacteria on the skin and has been shown to be 36 times stronger than azelaic acid, an irritating chemical used in acne treatments. Its anti-inflammatory properties also mean that turmeric can soothe painful cystic breakouts and calm redness.

Licorice Root, contains the active ingredient, glabridin that interrupts the enzymes that activate melanin production, making it a natural skin whitening agent. It prevents future hyperpigmentation while improving existing dark spots on your skin. Licorice Root is also a powerful anti-inflammatory, reducing swelling and redness for a clear and calm complexion.

Snow Mushroom, known as the “beauty mushroom” the Tremella mushroom has been used for centuries as a youth-preserving mushroom due to its unique polysaccharide and antioxidant profile.  Polysaccharides found in the mushroom have remarkable water retaining properties, with the ability to hold nearly five times more water than hyaluronic acid. Tremella’s polysaccharides also stimulate the production of superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of the most important “super antioxidant” enzymes in the body. SOD helps to protect and regenerate the skin as well as effectively prevent wrinkling and sagging of the skin. It has shown to be effective in preventing oxidative damage to skin cells as well as increasing the body’s production of its own powerful free-radical defence mechanisms.

Edible Beauty Deep Sea Collagen Elixir

Edible Beauty now has a new and improved formula for their Deep Sea Collagen Elixir so I don’t know how this compares to the older formula I tried. I do know that the new formula contains advanced fermented plant-based collagen and red mandarin essential oil.

The Deep Sea Collagen Elixir focuses on plumping and refining the skin using Sea botanicals like Seaweed Leaf and antioxidant-rich Purslane and Lychee Extract.

Edible Beauty chose Seaweed Collagen because it’s been shown to reduce wrinkle depth, improve overall skin appearance, and increase the expression of the longevity-boosting and anti-ageing protein (SIRT1). This type of collagen also prevents the breakdown of hyaluronic acid in skin cells.

Seaweed Leaf harnesses the unique power of ocean plants to survive extreme conditions and often adapt to changing environments, providing them with the ability to revitalise and renew the skin. Seaweed Leaf is rich in vitamins and amino acids which reinforce the skin cell membranes, protecting against free radical attacks, which accelerate ageing. The extract can also ‘re-organise’ the cell membrane structure to reverse cell damage and restore the skin to its natural state, combating sagging and loose skin.

Purslane (Portulaca) Extract works to repair and regenerate the skin on a cellular level. Purslane protects skin cellular DNA from age-related dysfunction, thereby maintaining the cells’ repair function and strengthening the skin with its natural antioxidant compounds. It contains a high amount of glutathione, which is a natural antioxidant system, along with hydrating Omega-3 fatty acids.

Edible Beauty Probiotic Radiance Tonic

This is a serum I’d recommend if you have sensitive skin or a damaged skin barrier that you need to nurture back to life. Besides highly calming and nourishing ingredients like Jojoba Milk and Birch Leaf, the Edible Beauty Probiotic Radiance Tonic also has Lactobacillus Bulgaricus Ferment, a probiotic strain designed to optimise the health of your skin’s microbiome and encourage resistance to external aggressors.

The Australian ingredient featured in this serum is the Wildcrafted Emu Bush, which is native to the Australian Northern Territory. Emu Bush contains strong antioxidants like chloregenic acid which protects the skin from break down and aging and phenolic acids whose antioxidant action stronger than that of vitamin E.
