NU Evolution Organic Makeup Review + Swatches

nu

NU Evolution is a new, cutting-edge natural makeup brand created by 2 powerhouse New Yorkers, Nadine & Sandra. Having worked in the high fashion world for many years, they set out to use their expertise to create a natural line of makeup made with certified organic ingredients that would reach next-generation status. I’ve been using their Complete Coverage Foundation, Camouflage Cream concealer and blush for the past few months and am blown away by the performance. If you have any skeptical friends who haven’t switched to natural makeup, this is a line you want to recommend to them.

Natural makeup still has a reputation of not performing up to par with conventional brands, and while this is in some ways true, NU Evolution is one of a few brands that has me believing that natural makeup can one day be the new norm. The sleek black packaging reminiscent of Bobbi Brown & MAC is fitting.

NU Evolution products are free of Parabens, Artificial Dyes, Synthetic Fragrances, Talc, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Phthalates, Bismuth Oxychloride, Mineral Oil, or Gluten.

Camouflage Cream Concealer

The Camouflage Cream concealer is now my go-to favorite. It’s everything you want in a concealer:

Super creamy & dense
Long lasting, doesn’t cake or start to separate
Intense coverage
Blends flawlessly with ease and little effort
Super clean & organic ingredients

I use shade Fresh but Nudie would probably also work for me. I received samples of the other shades and swatched them below.

Complete Coverage Foundation

The Complete Coverage foundation is now one of my top 2 favorite foundations. It has a matte finish that dries quickly, blends smoothly and provides great coverage. Besides being a superbly clean product, the ingredients are skin-nourishing and includes Matricaria Extract, Jojoba Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil & herbal extracts. Before choosing a foundation shade I was able to test out various samples that might be a match to mine. I took advantage and took some swatches in case it would be useful to others.

I swatched it quite thickly but note that it blends to a lighter natural shade. I’m shade 101.

   Pressed Blush

This is their Pressed Blush in Flushed which is a bright and vibrant pink shade. I love these types of pinks because it adds a youthfulness to the face that deeper/nuder shades of blush don’t. It’s silky smooth, highly pigmented, blends flawlessly and looks totally natural.

Ingredients

Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Powder, Boron Nitride, Silica, Buriti Oil, Zinc Stearate, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal) Root Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI-77891), Iron Oxides (CI-77492), (CI-77491), (CI-77499).
