NU EVOLUTION Makeup Review and Swatches

NU Evolution is one of the cleanest most high-performing makeup brands on the market today and even after a few years of first reviewing the line (see blog post of NU’s foundation and swatches  here) it still remains one of my few top favorite brands. Not that it matters but NU is also one of Emma Watson’s “go to” brands according to Eluxe Magazine. Besides healthy ingredients and high performance, this brand also focuses on color selection, innovative formulas and packaging that reflects the two founders Sandra and Nadine’s passion for high fashion, beauty
and pop culture.

Pressed Powder Foundation

I’ve been a huge fan of NU’s eyeshadows and blush and this was my first time trying their face powder products. What I love about this line is that the quality is consistent throughout the entire range. The texture of the pressed powder foundation is buttery and perfectly smooth. It also provides medium coverage possibly even full for those who hardly need coverage. Shade 201 is a perfect match for my skin tone (it’s swatched in between the bronzer and blush below but hardly shows up).

Portofino Bronzer

This is a matte bronzer despite its description on the NU website saying there is shimmer. The texture and application is just as good as the other powder type products. I thought the shade was rather muddy looking when I opened the product but after using it I found that it looks more natural and subtle when applied as you can see in the swatch below.

Blush in “Soho”

I absolutely love this blush shade. I already have the Flushed which is a much brighter “hot” pink whereas this is a soft pink that looks super natural. It lasts all day with a touch up needed at the end of the day if you want it to last through the evening. This shade is also buildable so if you want the subtlest hint of color on your cheeks go for 1 swipe and for a bold “bitten from the snow” look apply a few more swipes and blend.

Lipstick in “Allure”

This is a beautiful wearable nude shade that has more beige-peach tones than pink tones. Creamy, long lasting and highly pigmented, this lipstick doesn’t dry out my lips and is made with a blend of Castor Oil, Sun Flower Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil & Vitamine E.

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Candelilla Wax, Helianthus Annuus (Sun Flower) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter*, Simmondsia Chinesis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal) Root Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E). May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CL-77891), Iron Oxides (CI-77499), (CI-77491), (CI-77492).

Wearing CHIC above

I have extensively raved about NU’s eyeshadows so I won’t repeat myself here but here’s a variety of shots for you to see how beautiful and pigmented these shades are. They apply magnetically to my skin, do not have too much obvious shimmer, have serious pigment and last the longest.

I have previouy reviewed their lip gloss before so won’t go into detail again but here are several more shades swatched below. If you have tried Fitglow’s Good Glosses these are pretty much identical so now that Fitglow discontinued their glosses these are my go to. Can’t get enough of that chocolatey scent!
