Unfortunately I didn’t get on with this product. It’s an extremely solid balm that just wouldn’t melt in to my skin at all, I have a feeling it would be better suited to warmer climates – I’m based in the UK and our summer sun was not enough to soften this balm up! Due to this, I wouldn’t feel comfortable relying on this product as I don’t think I could evenly spread it. I have read that it can be mixed with coconut oil to ease with spreading but this doesn’t particularly appeal to me – I’m not sure how it would impact the effectiveness of the SPF and I don’t like using coconut oil on my skin anyway. It’s a shame as the texture of this balm isn’t sticky like most suncreams, plus it smells much nicer (a mild chocolate scent), and the tin it comes in is nice and could be easily re-used.

In all honesty, this was such a hassle to use. I love that it’s natural and has great sun protection but for someone that has acne prone skin the cocoa butter will clog pores. On top of that, it was really hard to work with. Being a Latina that is on the lighter end I thought this would work. It did not, I looked ghostly. My husband was even worst. He tested it out in preparation for his soccer match and he looked like he was wearing a mask. It is also such a hassle to wash off. Unfortunately it did not work for me

I love the idea of this product, the physical filter being a big plus, but being packaged in a tin and not in stick form I think it works better in warm climates where you don’t have to work quite so hard to get the hardened product out and on to your body/face. It’s a good sun block for those places that are extra prone to sunburn, like your nose on active days spent outside. I heard they are coming out with more shades and that’s also good because this gives a hint of greyish colour, although that is possible to work around. It’s also a product that’s easy to take with you. I would give this a much higher rating, but a good sunscreen is one you use often, and since I don’t seem to reach for this as much as I do my other sunscreens I’m not giving this a full score.

I have another competitor product to this one that I had already been using, and this one just does not measure up. While it smells divine, using it is difficult, at best. It is thick and does not become spreadable even when warming in your hands. This makes it difficult to put on your face. Additionally, when using on your face, it leaves a very chalky white caste that makes you not want to go out in public. I am giving it two stars because it is eco conscious and good for the environment. But, other than that, I have not been able to bring myself to use it more than two times, then I gave up.

This sunscreen smells like a chocolate treat and the packaging is beautiful and can be re-used once it is done. While I love the concept, unfortunately, this sunscreen is not for me. I live in Canada and have dry skin. I felt that it was near impossible to get this to spread onto my skin without rubbing it it excessively. I have tried using this during a hot summer day and it was equally difficult to spread onto my skin. For this reason alone, I would not purchase this product in the future.

Pros: Smells unbelievably good like chocolate, doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin and is safe and natural. Cons: in the UK this remains solid and is so hard to use, almost impossible. It tugs at my skin as I can’t blend it in, then I have to use so much product because it just won’t spread, by the time I’ve finished applying to my arms it’s been over half an hour. Also although this doesn’t leave a white cast because of the tanned colour on my very fair skin this can look patchy if not blended enough. Skin feels sticky for a long time after application. Overall, I think for me it’s not worth the time and effort to apply, great concept but perhaps best suited to hot climates.

I was confused whether the product was for the face or the body. Since there was no indication, I figured it could be used for both. The product itself was extremely hard to use. Application was a bit tough and the product wasn’t easy to spread. When I used it on my face, it was way too greasy. I’ve only used it a few times and haven’t gone back since I other products that apply much better. I think like the other reviewers say, if this was in stick form it would be much easier to use. It smells great though!

I loved the smell and the fact that it did not turn my skin white. It was very hard to get out of the tin so I would only ever use it on my face not the rest of my body. I would love to try it again if they made it easier to apply.

My initial impressions were 1. How compact the container was which would be great for slipping it into my bag and 2. The delicious chocolate scent! I used it for about a month. Although I never experienced any sunburn which made me think the product worked well, I also thought it was tough to spread on my skin. I have combination skin which is more on the dry side and I thought it highlighted a lot of my dry patches even after moisturizing. I wanted to love it, but my skin texture just didn’t work well with it.

Well, I unfortunately didn’t get to see how it faired in the sun. It was extremely solid which made it hard to get enough out of the tin for my whole face. I would try this again if they made it in stick form.
