We’ve been testing non-toxic toothpastes year round here and Risewell Toothpaste is one of our favorites. Traditional toothpastes are filled with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Propylene Glycol, artificial flavors and colors and other questionable ingredients. Risewell toothpastes are safe enough to eat and can be used by children and pregnant women. They’re Fluoride-free, vegan & cruelty-free with Hydroxyapatite as the star of the line. So toss aside your Colgate and read on for my Risewell review.
Hydroxyapatite is a natural mineral that makes up 90% of your tooth enamel and 60% of your bones. A revolution in oral care, HA has become standard in Japan, and is increasingly being used in Europe due to its safety and effectiveness. There is research that shows it is as good or better at remineralizing your teeth than fluoride.
Taste
The Risewell toothpaste has a pleasant taste and the mint isn’t very strong. If you prefer a very strong minty flavor then check out Boka.
Risewell is a more mild mint toothpaste with a soft consistency. The brand says the best way to use their oral care is to not rinse after use. They want you to keep the ingredients in your mouth, which I didn’t find difficult to do.
Risewell Alkalizing Mouthwash
This is a medium strength mouthwash that doesn’t have any burning effect or strange aftertaste. It’s nowhere near as strong as Listerine but it’s safe for the whole family and does leave my mouth feeling refreshed.
The size of the bottle is very generous at 16 oz. While I always appreciate a decent mouthwash, I’m trying to make my bathroom more eco-friendly and have been enjoying Bite Mouthwash Bits which totally eliminate the need to transport water. Instead, it’s a tablet that you bite down on and take a swig of water from your sink to turn it into a mouthwash.

I wouldn’t recommend their floss because I found mine to be quite flimsy, breaking apart easily.
