100 percent pure foundation review

The Ultimate 100% Pure Foundation Review

If you’ve been looking for a review that covers all of the 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Foundations, then look no further! The brand offers a wide variety of foundations, so I decided to break each down, so you can understand how they differ and choose the right all natural foundation for you.

100% Pure is an OG organic beauty brand with an extensive line of skincare, haircare, makeup and bodycare products that’s ever expanding. Their Fruit Pigmented makeup is a tried-and-true range of foundation, lipsticks, eyeshadows, palettes and everything in between – all powered 100% by natural ingredients and fruit pigments. One of the brands most popular makeup products is their foundation. Because who wants toxins and plastics sitting on their face for 8+ hours a day? In this 100% Pure Foundation review, I am sharing my thoughts on:

  • Healthy Foundation
  • Full Coverage Water Foundation
  • 2nd Skin Foundaion
  • Cream Foundation
  • Tinted Moisturizer
  • BB Cream

100 percent pure foundation review

From various finishes to coverage and consistency to shade range, understanding all the complexion makeup options 100% Pure has to offer can seem daunting. This foundation review is meant to clear the confusion to help you figure out which foundation is the perfect fit for you. Along with a few other brands, 100% Pure is one of my top recommendations for all-natural and organic foundations. The formulas are sophisticated and the cleanest available, the performance is there and the price tags are accessible (especially with 20% off using code OBL). It’s truly skincare that acts as makeup, which is what you want for a product that will be covering your entire face and sitting there for hours on end.

100 Percent Pure Foundation Swatches

It’s wild how the lightest shade for each foundation (except for the Full Coverage Water Foundation, which is 2nd to lightest), none of the swatches are exactly alike.

100% Pure Water Foundation

100% Pure Full Coverage Water Foundation

  • For: Dry Skin
  • Finish: The 100% Pure website says dewy but I found this to be more off a matte finish for me, similar to Healthy Skin Foundation’s finish
  • Coverage: Medium to Full
  • Number of Shades: 19
  • Wear: Long lasting

The 100% Pure Water Foundation offers the most inclusive shade range of 19 different shades, provides the most coverage out of all the 100% Pure foundations, and while thick doesn’t feel overly heavy on the skin. If you’re looking for an organic foundation that also provides lots of coverage, 100% Pure’s Water Foundation is it. This would be one of my top picks out of all the foundations, my other being the Healthy Foundation if you’re not looking for substantial coverage and would like your skin to look like your skin.

Whie it says on the bottle and site that the finish is dewy, I find the 100% Pure Water Foundation finish is matte on my dry skin. One layer is all I need for good coverage. Any more and I feel the foundation would look too cakey. Instead of plastics, synthetics and possible toxins, 100% Pure Water Foundation begins in an organic Aloe Juice base and is enriched with fruit extracts, oils from Acai and Pomegranate, and skincare ingredients like Red Wine Resveratrol and Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf (Organic Aloe Juice)*, Rice Starch, Extracts of Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Sativa Root Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean) and Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem, Zinc Oxide, Plant Cellulose, Coffee Bean, Sunflower Lecithin, Euterpe Oleracea Pulp (Acai) Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Resveratrol (Red Wine Resveratrol), Alpha Lipoic Acid, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Extracts of Rosmarinus (Rosemary) Officinalis Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thymus) Flower/Leaf Extract, Vegetable Glycerin, Lonicera Caprifolium (Japanese Honeysuckle), Silica, Turmeric, Bamboo Charcoal, Indigo Oil * Certified Organic

100% Pure Cream Foundation

100% Pure Cream Foundation

  • For: Normal, Dry, Combination Skin
  • Finish: Satin
  • Number of Shades: 7
  • Wear: Medium lasting

I tried the 100% Pure Cream Foundation in the lightest shade Alpine Rose, which turned out to be lighter than all the lightest shades across all the foundations I tried. I find it also works fantastic as an under eye brightening concealer. The coverage is somewhere between light and medium for me.

100% Pure Cream Foundation

100% Pure Cream Foundation is quite dense (I live in a cold climate) and not as unctuous like some other cream foundations I’ve tried. This is great for me personally because I don’t like a dewy finish from cream foundations. On its own the Cream Foundation doesn’t seem to be as long-lasting as the other 100% Pure Foundations, but you can extend its wear by using setting or foundation powder on top.

The 100 Percent Pure Cream foundation is impressively made purely of butters, oils, rice germ powder and fruits. And by purely I mean 100%. You won’t even find any minerals in this formula. When it comes to natural makeup technology, 100% Pure certainly has one of the best.

It’s important to break the “seal” as in the top layer of the 100% Pure cream foundation so you can properly use the product.

Ingredients: Persea Gratissima (Avocado Butter) Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe)* Leaf Juice, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Germ Powder, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Pigmented Extracts of Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean), Carica Papaya (Papaya)Fruit, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit, Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry) Fruit and Vitis Vinifera (Cabernet Grape) Fruit, Extracts of Matricaria Chamomilla (Chamomile) Leaf, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower, Camellia Sinensis (Organic White Tea) Leaf*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit, Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Leaf Powder. *Certified Organic

100% Pure Healthy Skin Foundation

100% Pure Healthy Foundation

  • For: Oily, Combination and Normal Skin
  • Finish: Matte
  • Number of Shades: 9
  • Coverage:  Light to medium
  • Wear: Long lasting

If you’re looking for a foundation that allows your skin to still look like your skin but is buildable to provide more coverage when needed, 100% Pure Healthy Foundation is a great option to consider. This is one of the cleanest foundations on the market, made mainly of the brand’s signature base of Organic Aloe Leaf Juice, Rice Starch and fruit extracts and supercharged with Maqui Berry, Coffee Cherry, Muscadine Grape, and Mangosteen.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation has a beautifully silky consistency that’s rather thick and very similar to their Water Foundation. The foundation feels a tad heavy while you’re applying but goes on looking sheer (my personal opinion). This was the very first organic and natural foundation I tried and it is still a top choice 7 years later. If you don’t care for heavy or full coverage, I would choose the Healthy Foundation over the Water Foundation.

100 percent pure foundations

A couple things I found odd is that the product label and website says the Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation provides full coverage, when in reality it’s more of a light coverage that’s buildable to medium. I feel like it could only be full coverage if you have flawless skin. And the other is that the foundation contains both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which provide mineral protection from UV rays. There isn’t any indication of a SPF factor on the product nor in its description.

I do love how hydrating the Healthy Foundation feels and it does seem to sink into the skin better than the 100% Pure Water Foundation.

Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Juice) Leaf Extract*, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Extracts of Prunus Persica Fruit (Peach), Prunus Armeniaca Fruit (Apricot), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean) and Lycium Barbarum Fruit (Goji Berry), Euterpe Oleracea Pulp (Acai) Oil, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract (Pomegranate Oil), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Extracts of Camelia Sinensis Leaf Ferment (White Tea), Coffea Arabica (Coffee Cherry), Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui Berry), Vitis Vinifera Skin (Muscadine Grape), Garcinia Mangosteen Peel (Mangosteen), Malpighia Punicifolia Fruit (Acerola), Sambucus Canadensis (Elderberry), Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower and Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract *Certified Organic

100% pure Tinted Moisturizer

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer

  • For: Normal, Dry, Combination Skin
  • Finish: Dewy
  • Coverage: Light
  • Number of Shades: 9

The Tinted Moisturizer is an all-around fantastic (and award-winning) facial moisturizer that provides skin with a bit of color. If you want one with SPF protection then my recommendation would be W3ll People’s BioTint Moisturizer SPF 30. If SPF isn’t a concern, then 100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer ticks all the boxes. It’s so lightweight and hydrating, sinks in effortlessly and provides a hint of sheer color.

The ingredients are in line with their foundations but is made mainly of Cucumber Juice and Organic Aloe, which lends it its lightweight, hydrating consistency. Unlike the other foundations, 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer has added Vitamin C to help fight free radicals and brighten skin.

Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice*, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Juice, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai Berry) Fruit Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Extracts of Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Camellia Sinensis (Organic White Tea) Leaf*, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean), Lycium Chinense (Goji Berry) Fruit and Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Extracts of Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark *Certified Organic

100% Pure 2nd Skin Foundation

100% Pure 2nd Skin Foundation

  • For: Normal Skin
  • Finish: Satin
  • Number of Shades: 7
  • Coverage: Medium

100% Pure 2nd Skin Foundation

This is 100% Pure’s most interesting foundation in my opinion. Instead of the usual go-to consistency you find in most foundations, 2nd Skin is basically a tinted oil that feels more watery than oily. And while the other foundations come in a pump bottle, 2nd Skin comes in a dropper, which makes for an unusual application experience. Do I apply the dropper directly on my skin, but not touching because that would just be unsanitary, or do I apply on my fingers first and then my skin?

It’s no surprise that 2nd Skin feels like a liquid because it’s made in a base of Squalane instead of Aloe juice like the other foundations. Naturally, this foundation is extremely nourishing especially for dry skin types. It glides on like velvet and the application requires a little bit more effort to make sure the product is evenly applied before it fully dries. It also does not contain any minerals (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) that you find in some of their other foundations.

The wear is comparable to the other foundations. I find. that it does have an odd scent, so if you’re sensitive to scents this might be a turn-off. The 2nd Skin Foundation does feel amazing on my dry skin and it pairs perfectly with my zinc oxide sunscreen powder from Jane Iredale.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Squalane, Pigmented extracts of Prunus Persica (Peach), Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Beans, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Rubus Idaeus Fruit (Raspberry), Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry), coffea arabica (coffee) Beans, Camellia sinensis (Micronized Black Tea) leaves, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower and Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract,Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary)Extract, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Hydrastis Canadersis (Goldenseal) Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Bamboo Silica, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric)

100% Pure BB Cream

100% Pure BB Cream

  • For: Dry, Combination and Normal Skin
  • Finish: Dewy
  • Coverage: Light to Medium
  • Number of Shades: 3

I first tried 100% Pure BB Cream eons ago when it had SPF 15 and loved it. At the time it was marketed as a four-in-one product that primes, conceals, covers and protects. The consistency still feels the same after all these years – thick and unctuous – and the lightest shade 10 Luminous is now a bit too dark for me since I lost my year-round California tan.

This definitely provides a dewy finish. Proof is that I used to wear this to work every morning once upon a time, and I had a coworker who would casually mention that it looked like a ran a mile before getting into work. So depending on the amount you’re using, you can easily go from dewy to shiny (sweaty looking).

The coverage in my early 20s when I first used this was probably a medium, and now in my 30s it errs on light. I find the wear to be adequately long lasting. The 100% Pure BB Cream comes in just 3 shades.
