I tested all the best clean lip oils on the market today to find the winners! Natural lip oils provide that thin, non-sticky shine that goes deeper than a lip gloss to moisturize and feed lips nutrients. They’re made with organic and non-toxic plant ingredients and skincare actives that keep lips plump, healthy and protected from environmental aggressors.
It’s like having glazed donut lips or glass lips without any of the junk. I looove lips oils for the mega shine and hydrating benefits they provide, plus the tint completes my makeup look. I’m sharing my in-depth comparison review of each formulation and how each one measures up to one another.
I Tried Well People Lush Lip Tinted Oil (Best Value!)
I was quite surprised by Well People’s Lush Tinted Lip Oil because it almost felt and performed like a lip stain but not quiiite. The color payoff is amazing and it feels like it stays on longer than most lip oils. It’s thin but still feels quite buttery and moisturizing and has a blend of botanical oils and shea butter to deeply moisturize dry lips. I. also really liked the applicator because it’s a little chunkier than some other nontoxic lip oils and good amount of product grabs onto it. Well People offers the BEST value for money if you’re looking for a budget-friendly clean lip oil in wearable shades.

I Tried Innbeauty Project Tinted Lip Oil
The first time I tried Innbeauty Project’s tinted lip oil I was totally blown away. At the time it was one of the newer clean beauty brands and I loved that they were making fun, innovative products that still prioritized clean ingredients. During my testing, I found Innbeauty Project’s lip oil to feel thicker than others with great lasting power and the best shade selection out of all the other brands. It’s seriously so cute and fun to use with its jumbo sized applicator tip which grabs a decent amount of product. It actually reminds me of lip smackers with all its fun dessert, fruit and cereal flavors.

I Tried Versed Tinted Lip Oil
I instantly noticed how creamy Versed’s Tinted Lip Oil is and how silky smooth the consistency felt on my lips. This feels super moisturizing and is filled with high-nutrient oils like camellia seed oil and sesame seed oil. I’m very impressed by the value for money this product offers and think it’s great budget option! I just wish there were more shades available. The color payoff isn’t as sheer as some of the other lip oils I mention and actually does pack a good punch!

I Tried Saint Jane Beauty Tinted Lip Oil
Saint Jane Beauty has the most beautiful and luxurious tinted lip oil out of all the ones I tried. I find the texture to be thin but it still somehow has a lot of grip. It’s not a slippery slick kind of feeling on my lips and seem to stay on better than a traditional lip oil. One thing I don’t like about it is how little comes out of the stopper each time. I’d like just a liiiitle more to get onto it so I don’t have to keep jamming the applicator in and out.
I love that they offer a wide variety of super beautiful, sophisticated shades including both matte and shimmer shades that use responsibly-sourced mica. During my test of their different shades I found the deeper ones have great color payoff for a lip oil while the nude shades keep your lips looking like yours but prettier. All the ingredients are vegan and cruelty free and it’s loaded with botanical oils and even Vitamin C to keep lips healthy and deeply moisturized.
Price: $28 for 0.5 oz
How it feels: Thin with grip
Color payoff: Sheer (lighter shades) Strong (darker shades)
Shades available (8): Bliss, Cloud, Calm, Alchemy, Elixir, Nectar, Mystic, Tonic
Skincare Ingredients: Vitamin C, Chamomile, Aloe, Avocado Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil

I Tried Typology Tinted Lip Oil
I found Typology’s Tinted Lip Oil to feel nice and creamy and I got a kick out the packaging looking like nail polish bottles. I like that the amount of product (0.5 fl oz) is generous compared to other lip oils which are usually 0.2 or 0.3 fl oz. What I didn’t like is that very little comes out so I had to remove the stopper to get the amount I wanted on the applicator. It’s 98% naturally derived with squalane, jojoba oil, vitamin E, and plum oil plus it’s vegan and made in France.
Price: $27.90 for 0.5 oz
How it feels: Smooth and creamy
Color payoff: Sheer (lighter shades) Strong (darker shades)
Shades available (5): Clear, Coral Pink, Ruby Red, Plum Purple, Nude Beige
Ingredient: Jojoba Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Vitamin E

I Tried Bloomeffects Lip Oil Sunscreen
I’m obsessed with the fact that Bloomeffects’ new lip oil is 100% MINERAL! That is so rare these days because every brands, even the ones who formulate clean, use chemical filters instead. I’m not super comfortable with that going on my lips and being ingested. These lip oils are light and on the creamy side than oily side and have 12% non-nano zinc oxide, Sodium Hyaluronate (plumping effect), vegan squalane, meadowfoam, grape seed, shea butter and their proprietary tulip complex. I find the color payoff to be impactful and strong.
Price: $29 for 0.24 oz
How it feels: creamy and light
Color payoff: Strong

I Tried HIGHR Collective Truest Glossing Oil
HIGHR Collective no longer makes the non-tinted version that I have and now they offer two shades, a pinky nude and berry mauve. The formula is the same though and it’s impressively 90% organic and filled with organic butters, organic oils and organic extracts in a beautiful glass tube. I find the consistency to be super light, thin and slick. It’s made with an organic castor oil base, which is amazing for dry lips, along with organic coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and herbal extracts. My only qualm is that it has phenoxyethanol which I can tolerate in other products but I’m iffy about applying to my lips.
Price: $28 for 0.24 oz
How it feels: thin and slick
Shades available (2): Truest, Blue Jeans
Skincare Ingredients: Organic castor oil, beeswax, jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, turmeric root powder, shea butter, cocoa seed butter

I Tried YENSA Luxe Lip Oil
If you’re looking for something similar to the Dior or Clarins lip oil, YENSA has the closest dupe with a cleaner formula. I find this to be a true tinted lip oil in every sense of the word. These days clean beauty brands and non- alike are calling almost everything a lip oil, so it can get confusing! YENSA’s has that quintessential slick oily, slippery texture that traditional lip oils have and goes on feeling light and moisturizing. It’s also got eight superfood oils for maximum moisture and nutrients. Keep in mind this is not a 100% natural formula but does have a cleaner than conventional formula.
Price: $29 for 0.23 oz
How it feels: thin and slick like a true lip oil
Color payoff: Sheer
Shades available (8): Power Pink, On the Mauve, Modern Nude, Crush It Coral, Clear Path, Boss Berry, Rising Ruby
