Gucci Westman, celebrated makeup artist for names like Jennifer Aniston, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, and Gwyneth Paltrow, launched her clean makeup line Westman Atelier in 2018 and I finally purchased the Foundation Stick to try the raved about brand for myself. Westman Atelier is a luxury line so the products are not on the affordable end at all. The Foundation Stick cost me nearly $70 and their other products look even pricier with the powder foundation going for $75 and lip palette for $85. I try so many affordable Gen Z type clean makeup products that I was eager to try something super luxurious. And Westman Atelier really does feel like the Dior or Chantecaille of clean makeup.
Note that Westman Atelier is not an all natural makeup brand and does sometimes include lake dyes and synthetics.
Westman Atelier Vital Stick Foundation
The packaging of this foundation has to be the nicest I’ve ever owned. There is a magnetic cap and the color of the packaging is this beautiful soft petal cream shade. Let’s get into the nitty gritty of this foundation:
- Type: Cream stick
- Finish: Natural to matte
- Coverage: Medium to full (for my skin this feels more full coverage)
- Can be used either as concealer or all over foundation
- Star ingredients: Berryflux Vita Extract, Camellia Seed Oil, Squalane, Coconut Oil
I feel that the coconut oil would be a dealbreaker for some as it can cause clogged pores and breakouts. The Vital Stick Foundation is creamy and glides on like velvet, leaving a natural almost matte finish for my dry skin. It’s also very high coverage for my skin and I can see myself using it as a spot concealer versus needing it all over my face. While Westman Atelier says the foundation is buildable, I feel that more than one layer looks cakey and feels heavy. I do find the foundation lasts all day. Not the most skin beneficial ingredients list as it’s filled with synthetics, but the Vital Stick Foundation does offer sophisticated performance.
