An Honest MARA Beauty Review

In todays’ article I’m sharing my honest Mara Beauty review after testing their bestsellers. I tested the Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil, Sea Vitamin C Serum and Algae Retinol Face Oil.

Mara Beauty is an algae-infused clean skincare line that’s all natural, non-toxic and inspired by the sea. Mara doesn’t just use any algae – they use a clinically-tested proprietary algae sourced via wild collecting in France and Ireland. They then combine this with actives, superfoods, adaptogens and hydrators to create luxurious products that are effective enough for mature skin.

Mara Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil

The Mara Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil is definitely a cleansing oil for those with dry skin as this is a very thick and viscous oil. It’s the complete opposite of a light, liquid-like cleansing oil and caters to a very specific preference. I would say this is suitable if you have very dry or mature skin and want something RICH.

The scent is pretty subtle and smells of bergamot. The Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil begins with a base of jojoba and sunflower seed oils and is infused with chia, moringa, four fruit-enzymes (papaya, pumpkin, pineapple and grapefruit), spiralina and kelp. I like to spend a good couple of minutes massaging the cleansing oil in and letting it sit for even longer to get the most out of the ingredients.

It’s got crazy strong grip so makeup and grime melt off easily.

Mara Sea Vitamin C Serum

Mara Beauty’s Vitamin C Serum is an oil-based serum and suitable for dry and mature skin types. This is a rich oil serum, not a water-based serum. I love that it’s absolutely loaded with skincare actives:

  • 15% THD Ascorbate: the most stable form of vitamin C
  • 14 vitamin C-rich fruit extracts
  • Herbs: reishi, chlorella, and ginseng
  • Marine botanicals: Mara’s proprietary algae

Beside’s Mara’s special algae hero ingredient, the Sea Vitamin C Serum contains an arsenal of Vitamin C-dense fruits like Kiwi, Blackcurrant, Strawberry, Lime, Guava, Papaya and more.

I prefer the Sea Vitamin C Serum at night when I feel my skin needs more brightening and antioxidant-powered skincare. The richness also helps keep my skin moisturized longer throughout the night while my heating is on.

Mara Algae Retinol Face Oil

Mara has an affinity for oil products and their Algae Retinol Face Oil is probably my favorite so far. My tiny little bottle (15ml) cost $66 so it is definitely on the steep end. But this isn’t just your average jojoba-argan-rosehip oil blend. Algae Retinol Face Oil begins with a base of Abyssinian and is supercharged with advanced plant-based ingredients like:

  • Fermented green tea
  • Cacay
  • 1.2% clean, BHT-free retinol
  • Proprietary Algae
  • Annatto seed oil
  • Meadowfoam seed oil, Evening Primrose Oil & more

This is a rich face oil perfect for the colder months, and it has a subtly sweet nutty scent that I love.
