Neogen is a Korean skincare line that focuses on advanced bio technology powered formulas. So if you’re interested in something stronger than snail mucin and rice extract, there may be something in K beauty brand Neogen that can help with your skincare concerns. I’ve been using the Neogen Real Vita C Serum, Retinol Serum, Niacinamide Serum, Daylight Protection Airy Sunscreen and Gauze Peeling Pads for the last couple of months and am sharing my thoughts.
Neogen does not market themselves as a clean beauty brand, but they do have a natural focus and choose a natural preservative method. I’ve found Neogen to be innovative even for K-beauty, which is already at the forefront of skincare innovation. The formulas do not seem to be typical, run-of-the-mill formulas and are thoughtful, advanced and elegant.
Neogen Real Vita C Serum
Neogen Real Vita C Serum is a water-based vitamin C serum with 22% Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a stabilized source of vitamin C. This isn’t all that uncommon in Vitamin C serums, but what makes it interesting is the 5 citrus fruit (Lemon, Lime, Orange, Tangerine, grapefruit) extracts. There’s also Vitamin E (of course) and Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Hyaluronate. The consistency is that of a liquid and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy.
So far the Real Vita C Serum has not caused any irritation with my skin and it’s a must in my morning routine to help protect my skin from free radical damage throughout the day and prevent new dark spots from forming. It will not get rid of stubborn dark spots but it does at the bare minimum help prevent new ones from forming. Of course, if you’re not using SPF religiously it doesn’t matter how much skincare you use.

Day Light Airy Protection Sunscreen SPF 50
Now for Vitamin C’s BFF, SPF! The Day Light Airy Protection Sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen (Octocrylene, Homosalate, Avobenzone) with zero white cast and SPF 50.
I think what people love about this sunscreen so much is that it feels like you’re applying a serum more than a sunscreen. But then again, many Korean sunscreens feel that way.
If comparing to other popular K-beauty sunscreens, Beauty of Joseon and Roundlab feel a bit thinner. Those are also budget sunscreens, while Neogen is much more of a skincare-forward sunscreen.
Neogen’s contains a whopping 20 types of plant extracts, including:
- Litsea
- Tea Tree
- Clove Leaf
- Acai
- Hibiscus
- Raspberry
- Blueberry
- Arnica & more
Niacinamide Serum
Neogen Niacinamide Serum contains 15% Niacinamide, Arbutin, Ferulic Acid, and Vitamin B – all of which work amazingly well together for blemishes. Sometimes, if Vitamin C is not suitable to your skin niacinamide and arbutin can be just as effective in fading hyperpigmentation.
This serums serves a number of skincare purposes:
- Great for lightening blemishes
- Great for oily/acneic skin as it can be used to control excessive sebum production
- Great for calming troubled skin as it’s great for those with sensitive skin
The consistency is that of a goopy pleasantly hydrating serum. I use the Neogen Real Vita C Serum and Niacinamide Serum together and do not find that combining the two causes any irritation. Please be careful when using multiple actives as your skin may be not be able to tolerate it!
