Naturium review

Naturium Review (I Tried their Viral Skincare)

Today I’m sharing my Naturium review of their best skincare products. Naturium is a line for those of you who want an affordable but effective line and don’t need the purest of ingredients lists. The Naturium Niacinamide Serum, Alpha Arbutin Essence, Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream, Vitamin C Complex Serum, and PHA Resurfacing Night Serum are some of their most popular products and most of the pricing ranges from $15-$30.

Naturium Controversy

The launch of clean, affordable skincare brand Naturium got off to a rocky start and was shrouded in controversy as its Youtube-famous founder Susan Yara promoted the brand without disclosing her affiliation.

Fast forward to today, Naturium has grown into a much larger line of skincare and body care products targeting all sorts of common skin issues. Lately, it’s their problem-solving body care products like the Naturium glycolic acid body wash, retinol body lotion and KP body scrub. The line reminds me of The Ordinary but with a little touch of luxury and my favorite is their Vitamin C Super Serum Plus.

Is Naturium Clean?

There’s quite a bit of marketing on their ingredients transparency, but this is not an all natural line. Naturium does include a handful of synthetics, and for their preservatives, Naturium uses phenoxyethanol and polysorbate. Like many of today’s new clean beauty brands, Naturium is on the lower end of the spectrum.

Naturium Vitamin C Super Serum Plus

I tried both the regular Naturium Vitamin C serum and their Vitamin C Super Serum Plus and I much much much prefer the latter. It’s more powerful and packed with the actives I’m looking for.

Its main actives are vitamin c, retinol, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and salicylic acid, but Glutathione is also high up in the ingredients list. Overall this is effective at smoothing and brightening the skin. If you have sensitive skin though I would proceed with caution as I have to make sure I’m providing plenty of soothing and nourishing support to avoid irritation.

Ingredients: Water, Niacinamide, Propanediol, Glycerin, Ascorbic Acid, Glutathione, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Retinol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Salicylic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Cone Extract, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Potassium Sorbate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Hexylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Sodium Hydroxide, Sorbitan Oleate, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Isohexadecane, Polysorbate 80, Polysorbate 20, 1,2-Hexanediol, Amylopectin, Dextrin, Polydextrose, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium Phosphate, Gold, Polysorbate 60, Ethyl Ferulate, Sodium Phosphate.

NATURIUM The Smoother Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Wash | Space NK

Naturium Glycolic Body Wash

This isn’t the cleanest body wash, but it’s highly targeted at common body skin issues like bacne and kerastosis pilaris (strawberry skin). I’ve only seen very expensive products target these problems so a $16 one is a first. This body wash also works as a face cleanser.

Naturium’s Glycolic Body Wash contains an AHA blend including glycolic, lactic, pyruvic and tartaric acids along with red algae. There are some synthetics included but this particular Naturium product doesn’t have phenoxyethanol or polysorbate.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Glycol Distearate, Lactic Acid, Malic Acid, Pyruvic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Sodium PCA, Polyquaternium-73, Cocamide MIPA, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Polyquaternium-10, Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Didecydimonium Chloride, Methylpropanediol, Polyquaternium-80, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Sodium Lactate.

NATURIUM Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% | Space NK

Naturium Niacinamide Serum

One of Naturium’s most popular products is their Niacinamide Serum. This serum is packed with 10% Niacinamide, a form of Vitamin B3 known for its ability to improve skin’s texture and minimize the appearance of pores. It also contains Zinc, which helps soothe and reduce inflammation.

Aside from its skin-improving benefits, the Niacinamide Serum is also great for those with sensitive skin as it’s fragrance-free and gentle. Simply apply a few drops to your face after cleansing and toning – don’t overdo it. Niacinamide helps with brighter, smoother, and more even-toned skin and works amazingly for some people and not at all for others. I’ve noticed that people who suffer from inflammatory acne tend to really like niacinamide serums.

At $17 Naturium’s Niacinamide Serum is already pretty affordable, but you can find the exact same thing with fewer synthetics in Geek and Gorgeous’ B-Bomb for half the price.

Ingredients: Water, Niacinamide, Propanediol, Glycerin, Zinc PCA, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-11, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hexylene Glycol, Citric Acid
