I tried Organic Bath Bombs and Salts (here’s what I liked best)

As a bonafide bath lover, I’ve tried dozens of natural and organic bath bombs and bath salts over the years. I’m sharing my guide to the best non-toxic options available in clean beauty today! If you love to soak in your bath for hours, keep reading!

Why I switched to non-toxic bath products

I’m literally soaking my entire body in a soup brew for hours so of course I want it to be as healthy for me as possible. With all the steam and my skin absorbing ingredients the thought of stewing in toxic chemicals horrifies me. I want to be at one with Mother Nature during a bath, not artificial dyes, synthetic fragrance, parabens and petroleum-based oils! The best bath bombs will be free of parabens, Sodium Laureate Sulfate, glitter, artificial colors, chemical fragrance and synthetics.

The overall winners for me are the Bathorium Bath Bomb, YINA Bath Ritual and Inoki Bathhouse Tea Bath.

I tried Bathorium Bath Bombs (and Bath Soaks)

I’ve tried several of Bathorium’s natural bath bombs and bath soaks and can wholeheartedly recommend their products. The ingredients are all natural, high quality and often organic and they offer the most variety out of any other brand I’ve tried. I love that they’re also relatively affordable and free of all synthetics, artificial colors and toxins. Note that Bathorium’s Treatment Soaks are pricier than their Crush Soaks. They use mineral salts, butters, oils and muds and key actives to assist in the product’s unique function be it to detox, relax or lull you to sleep. I also tried their gigantic Aphrodite Bath Bomb which is a fun experience because it fizzes for way longer than their normal sized bombs.

Price: $11 (1 Bath Bomb) / $49 (6 Bath Bombs) / $8 (1 Crush Soak) / $26 (5 Crush Soak) / $41 for 32 oz (Treatment Soak)
Types available: Aphrodite, Snooze Bomb, Pomelo Grove, Boreal Fog, Mama’s Perch, Amber Glow Mud Mineral Soak, Golden Hour Mud Mineral Soak, Emerald Detox Mud Mineral Soak, MILK Mineral Bath Soak, Hinoki Magnesium Bath Flake, Midnight Superbloom Crush, Charcoal Garden Detox Crush, Ancient Oat Hydration Crush, Eucalyptus Apothecary Crush, Sea Kelp Serenity Crush, Northern Sage Recovery Crush

I tried Inoki Bathhouse Tea Bath (luxe!)

Inoki Bathhouse makes the most unique natural bath soaks I’ve tried! These are 100% natural and organic tea blends made with botanicals, flowers, teas and mineral salts. I absolutely love the concept of turning my bath into a gigantic teacup that I can soak in! I’m blown away by the ingredients. This goes beyond the usual salts and powders and includes super unique ingredients like Oolong Milk Tea, Moroccan Spearmint Tea, butterfly pea flowers, black goji berries and more. They’re so luxurious and I feel like I can close my eyes and briefly escape to Japan, Tawain or the Nordics. They say each full-size is good for up to 4 bath treatments but I found that I can use it at most 3 times.

Price: $50-$55 full size (up to 4 baths) / $25-$28 mini size
Types available: Mountain Fog – Deep Sleep & Muscle Relief, Ancient Forest – Mindfulness & Restoration, Ethereal Garden – Rejuvenation & Relaxation, Nordic Lagoon – Detoxification & Purification
Key ingredients: Epsom Salt, Magnesium, Oolong Milk Tea, Black Goji Berries, Hojicha Tea, Moroccan Spearmint Tea, Icelandic Moss, Oats, Flowers
✔ 100% natural ✔ Organic ✔ Vegan ✔ Cruelty-free ✔ Handmade

YINA traditional Chinese medicine bath

I tried YINA Bath Ritual Organic Mugwort

Let me start off by saying that YINA’s organic mugwort bath has been THE most effective soak I’ve tried when it comes to soothing my back pain and sore muscles. But I do need to soak in it for a few hours at least. Not sure half an hour would cut it! It comes in individual pre-filled bags and each one contains a ton of Japanese organic mugwort. I even use it twice even though the second time is much weaker than the first. But since it’s pricey and precious, I will squeeze every last use I can get. Japanese mugwort is known for helping reduce tense muscles, skin inflammation and removing toxins.

I tried NOW Magnesium Flakes (budget!)

The most budget-friendly option I’ve found is NOW’s Magnesium Flakes. This absolutely gigantic 54 oz tub of flakes lasts a very long time and the magnesium helps me with a myriad of issues like helping me sleep better, reducing my stress and even my bowel movements. It’s made with 100% Pure Magnesium Chloride Flakes from the ancient Zechstein seabed in the Netherlands.

Price: $11.99 for 26.5 oz / $21.99 for 54 oz
Key ingredients: Magnesium Chloride Flakes

I tried Terralite Rose Cloud Milk Bath (zero waste!)

Let me start off by saying these are single use (good for one use only!) and zero waste bath soaks by a sustainable brand I love. They’re 100% natural, made with organic ingredients and packaged in a certified compostable pouch. I’ve tried almost all their bath soaks and love Rose Cloud and Midnight Jasmine. While the blends are simple, I know that Terralite is meticulous in sourcing the highest quality ingredients. Midnight Jasmine has Organic Coconut Milk Powder, Dead Sea Salt, Organic Jasmine Flowers, and Jasmine Sambac Flower Extract. My skin always feels soft and nourished after using one of these.

Price: $14 for 3 oz (1 bath)
Types available: Rose Cloud, Lavender Bloom, Eucalyptus Sea, Coconut, Midnight Jasmine
Key ingredients: Mineral salts, coconut milk, flowers, botanical extracts
✔ 100% natural ✔ Organic ✔ Vegan ✔ Cruelty-free ✔ Made in USA

I tried OSEA Gigartina Bath Soak

This is a soft pink powder that fizzes and foams when activated in water. I find the ingredients to be very simple compared to other natural bath soaks I’ve tried. But if you love the thought of soaking in seaweed, the main ingredient here is Gigartina Seaweed from Patagonia and there’s some coconut oil and lavender oil to moisturize and soothe skin. Decent product but not impressive and also quite pricey at $60 and less product than other brands.

Price: $60 for 20 oz
Key ingredients: Gigartina Seaweed
✔ 100% natural ✔ Vegan ✔ Cruelty-free ✔ Made in USA
