I tested the top-rated non toxic teeth whitening products over the last few years to see which ones actually work. I’ve created a guide including before and after photos to help you choose the best one for you.
The best non-toxic teeth whitening strips will be free of parabens, high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, SLS, fluoride and artificial colors and fragrances.
Ingredients to avoid in teeth whtening
- Hydrogen Peroxide (High Concentration): Can cause enamel erosion and tooth sensitivity
- Carbamide Peroxide: Can lead to gum irritation and increased tooth sensitivity
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS): A surfactant that can irritate the gums and oral tissues
- Tartaric Acid: Highly acidic and may erode tooth enamel

Natural Teeth Whitening Compared

I tried Lumineux Teeth Whitening Strips
Lumineux’s teeth whitening strips are certified non-toxic, enamel safe and peroxide free, making them the safest option on the market today. The strips are correctly sized but do tend to slip and slide off my teeth if I’m not careful. I found that they don’t have the strong grip of conventional strips. They’re made with naturally derived and safe ingredients like coconut oil, lemon peel oil and Dead Sea Salt. After 14 days (1 box), I noticed just a subtle whitening effect. Because there’s no peroxide, they don’t work as fast as conventional whitening strips. I did find them very gentle and they did not cause any tooth sensitivity.
Price: $40 for 14 treatments
Ingredients: Dead Sea salt, coconut oil, lemon peel oil
✓ Certified Non Toxic ✓ Peroxide Free

I tried GuruNanda Teeth Whitening Strip
GuruNanda’s Whitening Strips are the most affordable at under $10 and are quite similar to Crest whitestrips in my experience. They have the strongest grip and a peasant coconut aftertaste. I’m not sure how great these would be for sensitive teeth, because it does contain hydrogen peroxide. I did notice that they helped my teeth look brighter after 7 treatments. I think if I continued with them for 1-2 more weeks my teeth would look considerably whiter. Here’s my before and after from using it for a week and I used the strips on just the top row, where it did lift some coffee stains.

Price: $9.99 for 7 treatments (14 strips)
Ingredients: Hydrogen peroxide, Glycerin, Coconut Oil

I tried Biom Prism Whitening Strips
Biom’s Prism Whitening Strips was one of the more effective strips out of all the brands I tried. It does have a low percentage of hydrogen peroxide and is the priciest option in this list. But besides having peroxide, the ingredients are simple and safe with coconut oil and aloe vera. They’re well made, feel quite sturdy and gripped well to my teeth. There’s an immediate cooling sensation and a minty aftertaste. Plus, they didn’t cause me tooth sensitivity despite having peroxide. I waited about 4 months for my top teeth to match my bottom teeth in stain level before testing, and I saw a noticeable difference in the top vs the bottom.

Price: $30 for 7 treatments (14 strips)
Ingredients: 6% hydrogen peroxide, Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera Extract

I tried Inopro Teeth Whitening Strops
I tried Inopro’s whitening strips and sadly these were my least favorite out of all the brands I tried. It does come with a generous 14 treatments instead of seven and has one of the safest formulas on the market without the use of peroxide or harsh chemicals. They offer two different formulas, and I used the ones with the Green Formula. The ingredients are gentle and natural with bearberry extract and coconut oil to help lift stains. I didn’t detect any noticeable difference after using these and the green residue it leaves on my teeth was a little bit gross. Their Advanced Formula is also highly natural and uses natural enzymes like papain and bromelain along with lemon peel oil instead.
Price: $38.99 for 14 treatments
Ingredients: bearberry extract, glycerin, coconut oil
✓ Peroxide Free
