Activist Skincare Review: Entirely Refillable Skincare

activist skincareIn today’s article, I’m sharing my honest Activist Skincare review and which products I like and didn’t like. I tried the Activist Precious Oils Active Infusion, Sea to Skin Cleansing Gel and Active Hydration Serum.

I love that the entire Activist Skincare is built around being refillable and sustainable, something you rarely see in this wasteful beauty industry! Activist is a clean skin care brand that offers eco-friendly refill pouches, so you can endlessly refill your Activist bottles and jars. Using their refill pouches reduce emissions and waste compared to single-use glass containers, even when the glass is recycled.

The refill pouches are so light and thin that it’s hard to believe it contains everything that fits into a normal skincare bottle.

Activist skincare sea to skin cleansing gel

Sea to Skin Cleansing Gel

I found the Sea to Skin Cleansing Gel to be an interesting cleanser that goes from gel to oil once applied and easily rinses off. It’s not a true gel but more of a balm gel as this product is rich in oils. The blue color is ocean inspired and comes entirely from spirulina and the scent is all natural from lavender and grapefruit. Sea to Skin takes off my makeup and sunscreen well and doesn’t leave a greasy residue behind.

Ingredients: Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Quillaja Saponaria Wood Extract, Glycerin, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Di-PPG-2 Myreth-10 Adipate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil, Arthrospira Platensis (Spirulina) Extract, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Glyceryl Caprylate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract.

Activist Precious Oil Active Infusion

The Activist face oils is a silky blend of Grapeseed, avocado, and macadamia oils  along with Astaxanthin, Noni, Tamanu, Coenzyme Q10, Cucumber, Lycopene, Lutein, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Beta Carotene. I appreciate this isn’t a basic natural face oil and that it’s packed with plenty of actives for anti aging.

The Precious Oils Active Infusion is lightweight yet highly moisturizing. It has a calming nutty scent that comes from the ingredients and there is no added scent.

I am a little disappointed that the refills aren’t that much more affordable than the original product. But they do offer a discount on subscriptions and sales, so I think it’s a brand whose cause is worth supporting if you can manage.

Active Hydration Vitamin C Anti-Ox Serum

Going to be brutally honest and admit that I didn’t like the Active Hydration Vitamin C Serum. This is more of a liquid than a true serum and leaves the skin feeling a bit tacky. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that the product needs to be refillable that the consistency needs to be a liquid, but even as a toner this would feel strange to me. The ingredients are great and there’s no fluff or fillers in this, so it’s just the overall experience that could be improved. It’s got Vitamin C in the form of Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate along with peptides, glutathione, sodium hyaluronate and amino acids.

Ingredients: Aqua, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Saccharide Isomerate, Glycerin, Sodium Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glutathione, sh-Polypeptide-77, sh-Polypeptide-2, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Sodium PCA, Superoxide Dismutase, Sodium Lactate, Arginine, Aspartic Acid, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Proline, Threonine, Isoleucine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate.
