I tested a dozen of the absolute best organic sheets to give you the lowdown on which sheets are worth buying. If you’re on the search for quality organic sheets for your bed, this article covers everything you need to know so you can choose the right type for YOU. Investing in organic sheets and bedding free from harsh chemicals and harmful toxins is one of the easiest steps you can make in creating a safe, sustainable and non-toxic bedroom. There’s no shortage of eco-friendly and organic bed sheet brands committed to sustainable practices and certified organic materials and we continuously test the best ones. The healthiest bedding material isn’t just about being certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) though — you also want to look for comfort, breathability and texture, which can vary widely. We’re covering why you should switch to organic sheets, the different types out there and how they feel and the best brands.
Organic sheets can set you back about $150-$400 for a full set but can last up to 10 years with proper care. Still, I know not everyone can afford that, so I’m also including a very cheap organic sheet brand for families on a tight budget who still want safer products. Read on for the best organic sheets for your bed.
Is Organic Bedding Better?
So you’re wondering whether it’s worth buying organic sheets and what’s wrong with your current sheets. Organic bedding is better in so many different ways:
- Manufactured without harmful chemicals like pesticides, harsh chemical cleaners and fabric treatments
- Don’t contain any inks and dyes that may contain heavy metals
- More comfortable, breathable AND durable
- Not treated with flame retardants often used in baby and kids products
- Organic cotton uses less water and produces around 46% less CO2e than conventional cotton
- Keeps the earth’s soil, air and water used to grow crops free of harmful chemicals
Organic sheets are the healthiest and most environmentally friendly bedding option.
Types of Organic Sheets
- Material: Cotton, Linen, Bamboo, Hemp, Tencel, Silk
- Thread Count: 200-1000
- Weave Type: Sateen, Percale, Flannel, Jersey
Sateen
Sateen sheets thicker sheet with a luminous sheen finish that’s tightly woven and great for keeping warm during colder months.
Percale
Percale sheets are crisp and breathable sheets with a matte finish.
Flannel
Flannel sheets are great winter sheets using combed cotton fiber that’s extremely soft.
Jersey
Jersey sheets are knit instead of woven and feel like you’re sleeping under your favorite old t-shirt.
My Green Mattress Organic Sheets
A great option that’s more budget-friendly for organic sheets is Illinois-based organic home brand My Green Mattress. Offered in colors White or Natural, My Green Mattress sheets are made from 100% GOTS Organic Cotton. Their sheets are sooo soft and silky smooth to the touch, noticeably high quality and have a light reflecting sheen. I find their sheets to be breathable and great for hot sleepers. A King size set costs $169 for 1 Flat Sheet, 1 Fitted Sheet, and 2 Pillowcases. I love the feel and quality of these as well.
Avocado Green Mattress Organic Sheets
If you want ultimate luxury when it comes to organic sheets, Avocado Green Mattress Organic Superfine Suvin Sheets are a 1000 thread count and are made with one of the world’s rarest Extra Long Staple cotton varieties. GOTS organic certified Indian Suvin Cotton is considered the king of cottons and offer incredible eco-luxury softness. They also offer regular organic cotton sheets in 400 and 600 threat count. Avocado Green Mattress bedding is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX and MADE SAFE certified and are lab-tested + screened to be free of harmful substances and toxins.
Naturepedic Organic Sheets
I find Naturepedic sheets to be great quality on par with the rest of the bedding brands in this post, and Naturepedic happens to make one my favorite organic pillows I’ve tried. An industry leader in the non-toxic bedding space, Naturepedic offers organic cotton luxury sheets that feature 400 thread count, sateen finish and fitting up to 15″ depth.

Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheets
I have three different sets of Cozy Earth bamboo sheets and love the soft and silky feeling. If you want to sleep in the same sheets as Oprah herself (she deemed them the softest ever), then check out Cozy Earth. They’re not made with organic cotton like the rest of the sheets mentioned, but with 100% Viscose from Bamboo. Out of all the sustainable fabrics I’ve tried cotton, linen, hemp, supima cotton, etc – bamboo has been the softest. The downside with bamboo though, is that there’s no organic certification for it, and the processing and manufacturing of bamboo isn’t the cleanest. But man oh man, Cozy Earth sheets are insanely soft.

Saatva Organic Sateen Sheet Set
I’m currently loving the Saatva organic sateen sheet set and feel like they are so high quality. These feel very similar to My Green Mattress’ sheets. Luxury organic bedding and mattress brand Saatva offers a 300 thread count sateen weave made with 100% certified organic cotton. If you love a silkier, softer feel to your cotton, Saatva sheets feel amazing.
Pact Organic Sheets
If you’re looking for thin crisp certified organic sheets, Pact offers decent quality. Their organic cotton sheets come in Cool Air Percale, Room Service Sateen, and Jersey in a variety of cool and earthen tones. I tested their sateen sheets and find them to be on the thinner side with a crisp feel.

Happsy Organic Sheet Set
Another fantastic budget-friendly organic sheet product is Happsy’s Organic Sheet Set. The downside is they only come in one color! Happsy is a brand owned by Naturepedic, and they have the expertise and technology to create quality organic products for the more conscious consumer. Happsy sheets have a 300 thread count and are GOTS certified organic with a soft and comfortable feel.
Coyuchi Sheets
For natural non-toxic bedding that’s incredibly luxurious, Coyuchi is highly coveted thanks to their selection and quality. If you’re looking for luxury organic sheets made to the highest standards of environments and social responsibility, Coyuchi ticks all the boxes. They’re the epitome of coastal Californian luxury and have been making organic bedding since 1991. You can choose from a wide variety of Organic Percale, Crinkled Percale, Relaxed Sateen, Relaxed Linen and more in a variety of colors. In fact, even my duvet covers, throws and pillows are all Coyuchi. I’m a little obsessed!
White Lotus Home Organic Sheets
I own a lot of different White Lotus Home products and always find their quality to be high. For organic cotton sateen sheets, check out New Jersey-based White Lotus Home. Their handmade Sateen Sheets are made from 100% USDA-certified organic cotton yarn, and are made locally in New Jersey. The thread count of their organic sheets is a bit lower at 230 Thread Count. If thread count isn’t a priority, White Lotus Home sheets are more breathable and capture less particles.

Amazon Organic Cotton Sheets (Under $50)
If you’re on a tight budget and can’t shell out hundreds for an organic sheet set, Amazon actually makes their own organic bedding using GOTS organic cotton. A queen set is only $45 for a flat sheet, fitted sheet and two pillowcases. I put them to the test, and while they don’t have quite the same feeling of luxury and quality as the high-end organic sheet brands mentioned above, Amazon’s sheet set is adequate for non-fussy sleepers.
More Organic Beauty Lover-Approved Organic Sheets
- Antipodean Home: This is a new organic bedding brand offering great quality. If you like sturdy sheets with a textured feel instead of silky check out their organic cotton sheets. (Antipodean has the best organic wool duvet that is sooo breathable (and cooling!) I’ve tried.)
- Brooklinen: I tested Brooklinen’s new GOTS certified organic sheets and find them to have a crisp, thin and light feel that feel very similar to the Amazon organic cotton sheets and Pact Organic Sheets. So it’s not my first choice but can be an option for those on a tighter budget.
