For the last five years I tested a dozen of the absolute best organic sheets to give you the lowdown on which are worth buying. If you’re on the search for quality organic sheets for a more sustainable eco-friendly bed, this article covers everything you need to know so you can choose the right type for YOU.

Investing in organic sheets, mattress and non-toxic furniture free from harsh chemicals is one of the best steps you can take in creating a healthy bedroom. There’s no shortage of organic bedding brands committed to sustainable practices and certified organic materials. I always update this post with the newest ones I’ve tried too. The healthiest bedding material isn’t just about being certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) though — you also want to look for comfort, breathability and texture, which can vary widely. We’re covering why you should switch to organic sheets, the different types out there and how they feel and the best brands.

Is Organic Bedding Better?
So you’re wondering whether it’s worth buying organic sheets and what’s wrong with your current sheets. Organic bedding is better in so many different ways:
- Manufactured without harmful chemicals like pesticides, harsh chemical cleaners and fabric treatments
- Don’t contain any inks and dyes that may contain heavy metals
- More comfortable, breathable AND durable
- Not treated with flame retardants often used in baby and kids products
- Organic cotton uses less water and produces around 46% less CO2e than conventional cotton
- Keeps the earth’s soil, air and water used to grow crops free of harmful chemicals
Organic sheets are the healthiest and most environmentally friendly bedding option.

Types of Organic Sheets
Material: Cotton, Linen, Bamboo, Hemp, Tencel, Silk
Thread Count: 200-1000
Weave Type: Sateen, Percale, Flannel, Jersey
- Sateen: thicker sheet with a luminous sheen finish that’s tightly woven and great for keeping warm during colder months.
- Percale: Percale sheets are crisp and breathable sheets with a matte finish.
- Flannel: Flannel sheets are great winter sheets using combed cotton fiber that’s extremely soft.
- Jersey: Jersey sheets are knit instead of woven and feel like you’re sleeping under your favorite old t-shirt.
Organic Sheets Compared
I tried Coyuchi Organic Sheets
I’m a big big fan of Coyuchi and have a number of their items including their organic quilt, sheet and pillows. For natural non-toxic bedding that’s incredibly luxurious, Coyuchi is highly coveted thanks to their selection and quality. I’m partial to them, because for me, they’re just the epitome of coastal Californian luxury. They use 100% GOTS certified long staple organic cotton made in a Fair Trade Certified factory. You can choose from a wide variety of Organic Percale, Crinkled Percale, Relaxed Sateen, Relaxed Linen and more in a variety of colors. In fact, even my duvet covers, throws and pillows are all Coyuchi. I’m a little obsessed!

I tried My Green Mattress Sheets
A great option that’s more budget-friendly for organic sheets is Illinois-based organic home brand My Green Mattress. Offered in colors White or Natural, My Green Mattress sheets are made from 100% GOTS Organic Cotton. Their sheets are sooo soft and silky smooth to the touch, noticeably high quality and have a light reflecting sheen. I find their sheets to be breathable and great for hot sleepers. Overall, My Green Mattress offers the best value for me, if you don’t want something that feels too cheap but can’t shell out the big bucks for luxury.

I tried Brooklinen Sheets
I tried Brooklinen’s Organic Percale Core Sheet set and find them to be on the thin, crispy side. They feel pretty much the exact same as Pact’s sheets. Brooklinen offers OEKO-TEX certified 100% long staple cotton sheets at a relatively affordable price (usually a queen set is on sale for under $180). I found their Classic Percale to be great for hot sleepers and perfect during the summer months – very very thin and cooling though not soft. What I like about Brooklinen is the enormous selection of colors and patterns they have. There’s also a wide variety of fabrics to choose from like Luxe Sateen, Classic Percale, Organic Cotton, Heathered Cashmere, Brushed Flannel and Washed European Linen. I love love love their Down Alternative Comforter and find them to be a decent alternative to the much more expensive luxury versions.

I tried Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheets
I have three different sets of Cozy Earth bamboo sheets and love the soft and silky feel. They’re not made with organic cotton like the rest in my list, but with 100% Viscose from Bamboo. But hear me out, out of all the sustainable fabrics I’ve tried cotton, linen, hemp, supima cotton, etc – bamboo has been the softest. The downside with bamboo though, is there’s no organic certification for it, and the processing and manufacturing of bamboo isn’t the cleanest. But man oh man, Cozy Earth sheets are insanely soft. I feel like the slip and slide feel with actual silk sheets is too much, while bamboo is a perfect in between.

An industry leader in the non-toxic bedding space, Naturepedic offers organic cotton luxury sheets that feature 400 thread count, sateen finish and fitting up to 15″ depth.

Another fantastic budget-friendly organic sheet product is Happsy’s Organic Sheet Set. The downside is they only come in one color! Happsy is a brand owned by Naturepedic, and they have the expertise and technology to create quality organic products for the more conscious consumer. Happsy sheets have a 300 thread count and are GOTS certified organic with a soft and comfortable feel. I would say the quality of these sheets are very similar to Pact’s.

I tried Saatva Organic Sheets
I’m currently loving the Saatva organic sateen sheet set and feel like they are so high quality. These feel very similar to My Green Mattress’ sheets. Luxury organic bedding and mattress brand Saatva offers a 300 thread count sateen weave made with 100% certified organic cotton. If you love a silkier, softer feel to your cotton, Saatva sheets feel amazing.

I tried Pact Organic Sheets
Sadly, Pact are my least favorite organic sheets. If you’re looking for thin crisp certified organic sheets, Pact offers decent quality. Their organic cotton sheets come in Cool Air Percale, Room Service Sateen, and Jersey in a variety of cool and earthen tones. I tested their sateen sheets and find them to be on the thinner side with a crisp feel.

I tried Of An Origin Dreamweave Linen/Cotton
Of An Origin is a small company I recently tried because I was curious about their innovative Dreamweave Linen and Cotton combination fabric. These do not have any certifications, but fall onto the affordable end. It’s got a super airy light feel that has that elegant linen look without feeling like linen all the way. It has that “drier” feel than the silky smoothness of sateen.

I tried White Lotus Home Sheets
I own a lot of different White Lotus Home products and always find their quality to be high. For organic cotton sateen sheets, check out New Jersey-based White Lotus Home. Their handmade Sateen Sheets are made from 100% USDA-certified organic cotton yarn, and are made locally in New Jersey. The thread count of their organic sheets is a bit lower at 230 Thread Count. If thread count isn’t a priority, White Lotus Home sheets are more breathable and capture less particles.
