In today’s article, I’m sharing my Higher Dose sauna blanket review after testing their blanket for a year. I love using the sauna blanket as a weekend treat when I’m winding down on a Sunday evening, and sometimes even during the week. It’s perfect after a workout on a cold winter evening. It helps with total body rejuvenation, glowing skin, relaxation and mood boosting. Check out my video showing how I use the Higher Dose blanket in real life if you scroll to the bottom.
Popular with the likes of Lady Gaga and Bella Hadid, the celeb-favorite Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blanket harnesses far infrared rays inside Amethyst, Tourmaline, and Charcoal layers for all the benefits of a sauna in the comfort of your home.
The sauna blanket is so convenient AND cost effective, if you’re not able to get a full-size sauna and love sauna sessions. I’ve had a foot injury that’s prevented me from exercising, so getting a good sweat session through a sauna blanket to detox and burn calories seemed like a perfect solution.
But is a $600 infrared sauna blanket worth it? In this Higher Dose review I’m sharing what it’s actually like to use an infrared sauna blanket, Higher Dose benefits, and how to use a Higher Dose sauna blanket. Higher Dose Sauna Blanket Benefits
There are so many Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blanket benefits. The most important one though for me is that it provides a convenient way to detoxify the body. The heat energy from Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blankets boosts blood circulation to deliver all the nutrients the body needs to recover, penetrates deep to relax tense muscles, and heals damaged tissues. This is why far-infrared is used for powerful tissue healing and muscle recovery.
Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared light waves heat the body directly and increase your body’s core temperature without relying on intense high heat. This increases circulation and blood flow, delivering nutrients to the body without over-challenging the muscles that need a little rest.
Unloading the toxic burden on your body is a great way to promote overall health and longevity. Just one Higher Dose sauna blanket session can help relax the mind, boost your mood, promotes glowing skin, and even stimulates your brain’s feel-good chemicals give you that natural high.
Another added benefit? You can burn upwards of 600 calories in just one sweaty session (without moving a muscle.) Whether you’re as healthy as ever or struggling with health conditions, far infrared rays are fantastic for deep, intracellular healing and opening your detox pathways.
Another major Higher Dose sauna blanket advantage is that you also get a major dose of crystal therapy. There’s a layer of built-in amethyst and tourmaline to boost overall well-being. The energy of crystals is a woo woo topic that I won’t get into here, but you either believe in it or you don’t. If you do, then Higher Dose’s crystal layer is just another plus.

HigherDose Blanket Breakdown
The Higher Dose infrared sauna blanket is made of Waterproof Polyurethane (PU) fireproof cotton. The new Higher Dose Sauna Blanket features the same technologies but with elevated materials. The sauna blanket is composed of:
- A layer for far infrared heat and low EMF
- Amethyst and Tourmaline layers to deepen the effects of the far infrared heat
- Charcoal, clay and magnetic layers
- Charcoal binds to pollutants and helps body flush out impurities
- Clay emits negative ions and balances the heat
- Grounding, medical-grade magnetic strip and improves blood flow and circulation
- New zipper has replaced the Velcro for easier use
If you’re worried about high EMF radiation (electromagnetic field waves given off by electronic devices) from far-infrared light, HigherDOSE Infrared Sauna Blanket uses low level EMF and ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) currents for safe usage.
How to Use Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blanket
Higher Dose highly recommends consulting your doctor before using the blanket if you’re pregnant, nursing, have any heart conditions or illnesses, and if you have body implants.
You need to use the Higher Dose sauna blanket fully clothed so your skin and blanket are both protected. The heat from the blanket will be too uncomfortable for bare skin.
- Wear long sleeve shirt, pants and socks
- Put a towel down inside the blanket first
- If you’re sensitive to heat, place an extra towel on top of you for further protection
- Use the sauna blanket on a hard flat surface
- Preheat the blanket for 10 minutes
- Use the sauna blanket for 30-45 minutes
It’s much more comfortable to have a pillow for your head to rest on while using the blanket.
How to Clean Higher Dose Sauna Blanket
- Use a small towel to wipe off the sweat
- Then use a cleaning spray
- Let air dry
- Pack it up and store away. Folded up the Higher Dose sauna blanket hardly takes up any space.
What Using a Sauna Blanket Feels Like
The Higher Dose sauna blanket is pretty large and feels roomy inside. Once you’re inside the blanket and zip yourself up, it’s annoying to have to get back out so you should make sure you’ve got everything you need beside you like the TV remote, water, book, snacks, etc.
The sauna blanket surprisingly feels like how you feel when you’re inside of a real sauna. The heat feels similar and the sweat starts to come on about 10-15 minutes in.
The Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blanket has 8 heat levels that you can adjust for your preference. I like the heat level to be at either 4 or 5 and work my way up but you can choose a lower heat setting if desired. The maximum heat level is only recommended if you can’t sweat at any of the lower levels.
There’s definitely a new blanket smell which isn’t super strong but it’s there. You could try using an essential oil diffuser during your sauna blanket session if this bothers you.
If you’re sensitive to heat I recommend placing an extra towel to cover the top part of your body or wearing thicker clothing. If your feet are sensitive to heat, you can lie with your knees up so your feet don’t come into contact with the blanket.
As you can see the width of the Higher Dose sauna blanket is very generous and it feels spacious inside. The top layer of the blanket doesn’t feel heavy or constricting, which was something I worried about. It’s super convenient getting in a detox sweat session while reading a couple chapters in a book or watching a Netflix episode.
Is a Higher Dose Sauna Blanket Worth It?
If you enjoy sweat sessions and saunas but a full size sauna just doesn’t make sense for your home, the Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blanket is the best alternative today. If you don’t enjoy sweating then it’s probably not worth it for you. You also need to use the blanket regularly to justify the $599 cost. If you plan on using the sauna blanket once every one or two months, it’s probably not worth it because by the time you’d have gotten enough uses to justify the cost, there will be a newer and better innovation.

- Higher Dose sauna blankets ship to US, Canada and Europe for free
- Higher Dose blankets should not be used with an adaptor or convertor because the wiring of the blanket differs by the region it was designed for. You will shortcircuit the blanket!
The Higher Dose sauna blanket bag ($99) is handy for when you want to transport the blanket. While it’s not something I can see myself traveling with on flights, it’s proven useful when transporting it on short distance trips.
