My honest Amala Beauty Review

I’m a huge fan of Amala’s skincare and feel like they’re such a sleeper brand. A bit about them, Amala Beauty is an OG green beauty brand from Germany that made 100% natural and organic skincare luxurious decades before clean beauty became popular. They’re certified by EcoCert and Natrue, and uses traceable whole plant ingredients boosted by bio-active compounds and preserved using fermentation technology. Backed by German biochemical engineering and handcrafted in small-batches, Amala is where clinical meets natural with scientific formulations that are efficacious enough for many of the world’s most high-end spas like the Mandarin Oriental and Jumeirah.

I tried Nourishing Gentle Cleansing Balm

I very much enjoyed the Amala Nourishing Gentle Cleansing Balm. It’s very different from other natural cleansing balms I’ve used which are usually more of a solid that melts on contact. This is more of a liquid-like balm. The soft gooey balm oozes easily out of its container and melts further upon contact with my skin. It’s so soft and silky smooth and effectively removes the day’s makeup and sunscreen. It also easily rinses off so there’s no need to remove using a wet washcloth.

Its key ingredients are:

  • Vital minerals, including copper, magnesium, zinc, iron, and silicon, that works synergistically to help nourish and condition the skin
  • Caper Berry Extract to inhibit inflammation
  • Bio-active nutrient powerhouse that combines Yerba Santa probiotics, balancing prebiotics, and moisturizing peptides

If you like a very lush cleansing balm that’s more of like a liquid salve instead of a solid, this is a fantastic product.

I tried Collagen Boosting Peptide Mask

The Collagen Boosting Peptide Mask is great for  wrinkles and thinning skin that’s in need of densification. This was one product I wasn’t impressed by like the other Amala products I tried. It’s a collagen boosting mask, but I just didn’t feel like it stand out in any particular way. This mask is one of their bestsellers so I’m clearly the minority here.

Some of its impressive ingredients include:

  • Natural collagen-activating peptides
  • Colloidal gold
  • Moth bean plant-based retinol
  • Concentrated Vitamin C
  • Chia seed polysaccharides

Despite the unique ingredients, I wasn’t really impressed by how this felt on my skin nor the immediate results. Perhaps this mask provides a more visible effect to those with mature skin or deeper set wrinkles, but other than my skin feeling nice and moisturizer afterwards I didn’t experience anything major.

I tried Rehydrating Toning Essence

The Amala Rehydrating Toning Essence is a 2-in-1 toner and Essence that can both remove impurities leftover after cleansing AND intensely hydrate skin. It’s thicker than a traditional toner but not quite as thick as a traditional K-beauty essence. It lies perfectly in the middle of these two consistencies. Not only does it feel amazing on my skin, it also has this very pleasant, subtle yogurt-like scent. If you’re looking for a luxury toner that’s a little heavier than a regular face mist, this does not disappoint.

The Amala Rehydrating Toning Essence boasts:

  • Antioxidant-rich Mulberry Bark extract
  • Super Beet Amino Acids to brighten and even out tone
  • Tonka Bean pre+probiotic infusion
  • Vitamin C
  • Amala’s signature Living Beauty BioActive Complex, an ultra-concentrated blend of bio-active nutrients: Peony, skin-renewing 23K Rose Gold, Vitamin C-rich Amla, and antioxidant Spirulina

I tried Skin Plumping Hyaluronic Serum

First off, I’ve got to start by saying that this is a very expensive hyaluronic serum. At $188 it’s probably the priciest hyaluronic serum I’ve come across. My first thought was whether this price could be justified. On the Amala website it says:

  • Elevates hydration by helping the skin to retain moisture for a more supple appearance
  • Enhances skin for a softer, smoother texture with increased resilience, and hydration
  • Supercharges youthful firmness and elasticity to fight the visible signs of aging

According to Amala, the Skin Plumping Hyaluronic Serum is a concentrated, water-light moisture with both high and low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid and Red Algae with an intensive blend of age-fighting actives to redensify and rehydrate the skin. It’s a creamy serum with a thicker, goopy consistency. Similar to the Rehydrating Toning Essence it has a natural and subtle yogurt like scent. I have to admit this is uniquely different from mid-range and budget Hyaluronic serums I’ve tried. While they all feel hydrating, this feels SO good on my dry skin and really does noticeably hydrate skin. But $188 is inaccessible to most so you definitely don’t need the most luxurious product if it’s out of your budget.

Amala Advanced Firming Complex

I tried Advanced Firming Complex

The Amala Advanced Firming Complex is the brand’s most potent moisturizer specifically formulated to smoothe wrinkles. It combines breakthrough natural biotechnology and powerful actives. It works to firm and plump, support the skin barrier, reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothe uneven skin tone, preserves moisture, and enhance elasticity.

Some of its key ingredients are:

  • Peptide blend from maca root and avocado
  • Acai stem cells with Ferulic acid
  • Nourishing butters and oils (Cacay, Seabuckthorn, cocoa butter)
  • Peony, skin-renewing 23K Rose Gold, Amla, and Spirulina

This moisturizer is silky smooth and sinks into skin seamlessly. It dispenses from the center of an airtight container that you push down on. Again, this brand and product is specifically formulated for mature skin and the firming and smoothing of wrinkles, so I’m not able to test for its true purpose, but I did enjoy this moisturizer. From the outside it looks and feels like any other silky moisturizer, but the power lies in their ingredient technology.

Thanks so much for this review on Amala! I’ve been interested in trying this brand ever since I saw it at a spa I once went to.
