currentbody led mask before after results

I Used the CurrentBody LED Mask Series 2 Daily for 30 Days – My Full Review

I’ve used quite a few LED masks over the last several years, and while my favorite costs thousands of buckaroos, the gold standard for me has been CurrentBody’s. It’s the brand I trust the most and it’s the most accessible option for people who want an everyday LED mask to use at home.

I used the original Currentbody LED Mask for a few years and always felt it was a solid mask, but I’ve been blown away by the Series 2. It fits my face so much better, feels more powerful than the original and is a lot more sophisticated and practical to use.

How to determine mask efficacy

There’s three main factors that determine whether a mask is effective.

  • Wavelength precision: the more precisely centered wavelength activation it delivers the better
  • Skin coverage: delivers an even and consistent dose of light across entire treatment area
  • Power over time: this means the total energy dose given over the treatment time (the optimal amount of power and consistency is key).

CurrentBody’s Series 2 delivers 20.3 mW/cm2 (Red) and 11.8 mW/cm2 (NIR) while competitor masks deliver 1.5 mW/cm2 (Red) and 1.4 mW/cm2 (NIR).

LED Mask Benefits

While I like to use my microcurrent and radiofrequency devices less often since those can be overused, I love love love to use red light therapy as often as I can. The latter is great for specific concerns like lifting and tightening, but red light therapy is a must for overall anti-aging and collagen production.

Here are its main benefits:

Stimulates Collagen Production

Red light penetrates deep into the skin and stimulates the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Collagen is essential for skin repair and remodeling, helping to smooth and soften scar tissue over time.

Promotes Cellular Repair and Turnover

The red and near-infrared light energy boosts ATP production, which powers cellular repair and renewal. This helps break down abnormal scar tissue and encourages the growth of healthy new skin cells.

Reduces Inflammation

Scars often form due to excessive inflammation during the healing process. Red light therapy has an anti-inflammatory effect, calming the skin and reducing redness, swelling, and discomfort, especially in newer scars.

Improves Blood Flow

RLT enhances microcirculation, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to damaged skin. This speeds up the skin’s ability to heal and regenerate properly, reducing the appearance of scars.

Changes Series 2 vs Series 1

Here’s a concise breakdown of how the Series 2 is superior:

  • CurrentBody is the only company that provides proof of efficiency and effectiveness of the testing and nanometres for each LED that goes into the face mask (the process is called VERITACE, which I’ll explain more further into this post).
  • There’s double the LEDS with triple wavelength LED (236 LEDs in each mask versus 132 in Series 1)
    • 633 nm (Red Light): Stimulates collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
    • 830 nm (Near-Infrared): Energises deeper skin cells for improved firmness, brightness, and tightness.
    • 1072 nm (Deep Near-Infrared): A newer inclusion targeting deeper tissue (up to 10 mm), especially prone aging areas like under-eyes and around the mouth.
  • Enhanced design & comfort – it actually feels so snug and wraps around the natural contours of the face. Series 2’s chin strap ensures I’m getting max efficacy around the very edges of my face. Plus the multi-way velcro straps ensure a secure fit and eye inserts for convenience enable reading or screen use during sessions.
  • Convenient clip for clothing so I can mask while I’m doing other things around the house.
  • Long lasting battery that works for around 9-10 uses (10 mins each).

What is Veritace?

Now this I found very cool. Veritace testing is unique CurrentBody. It means every LED is individually tested for precision to deliver accurate, effective light output. The biggest controversy around LED masks is whether the bulbs are actually effective enough to make a difference in the skin, even though LED therapy itself has clinically proven benefits. This added layer of testing as proof of efficacy gives more peace of mind that your money isn’t wasted.

My 30-Day Before and After Results

I used the mask consistently for 30 days for before and after photo purposes. I like to use the mask on my bare skin without any skincare, but every so often I’ll use CurrentBody’s hydrogel masks. My skin is also quite used to LED light therapy so sometimes I’ll do two rounds of 10 minutes back to back. But if you’re new to LED I wouldn’t recommend this.

Overall, I’ve noticed brighter, more toned skin with an improvement in clarity as well. The blemishes left over from breakouts during my period seem to have healed faster too.

Creating a brand new, improved version of a product that already sells well is a massive undertake that takes a lot of effort and investment. I think it goes to show how dedicated they are to putting out the best product in the market.
