I’m sharing the best refillable skincare and makeup brands that are my tried-and-true favorites worthy of rebuying for life. This is the most detailed and complete guide to non-toxic refillable skincare, makeup and more. Plus, I’ve included a zero waste refill shop Searchable Directory!
The best refillable skincare is made with plant goodness, free of harmful ingredients, zero waste, uses plastic free packaging and ethical sourcing.

Why Choose Refillable Skincare
Choosing refillable products is an amazing way to ditch single-use packaging, cut down on plastic waste, and save money on your favorite clean beauty products that you’d keep buying anyways. Today, the packaging business is worth $30 billion, with plastic making up two-thirds of this, and projected to grow to $40 billion in just five years. More people should be thinking about this! There’s so many reasons to switch:
- Way less plastic waste: you’re just swapping the inside, not tossing the whole container.
- Brands that care about their environmental footprint usually care deeply about their ingredients, ethical sourcing, and fair pay for their workers.
- Saves money: Refills are usually cheaper than buying the full product again. When you buy bulk size, it lasts twice as long or even longer for less cost per oz.
- Makes a lot of sense for products you already would repurchase anyway
- Sturdier, eco-friendly packaging overall since it’s made to last and not get thrown out
- Makes you more intentional with what you buy instead of jumping on every skincare trend (can wreak havoc on skin anyway!)
- So easy and accessible: It’s actually easy to find stellar products that are cult favorites with more and more companies opting to go refillable for their customers’ top favorites!

Best Refillable Sunscreen for Face: Emma Lewisham Sunceutical SPF 50 Face Cream
Emma Lewisham is an anti-aging skincare brand that builds their whole line around refills, sustainability, and organic, plant based ingredients. Their Sunceutical SPF 50 Face Cream is a mineral sunscreen for face that also functions as a proper anti-aging moisturizer and isn’t greasy, heavy or white cast-y AT ALL. It’s truly a do-it-all skincare product: a real face cream with peptides and niacinamide, strong SPF protection, and gently tinted to blur imperfections. The texture is truly impressive – it’s light, elegant and silky, without the thick, chalky feel most mineral sunscreens have. I don’t know how they managed to achieve this with a whopping 20% zinc oxide (not the usual 10-15% in most sunscreens). I love that it has advanced actives like Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Saccharide Isomerate, and Niacinamide and has a filter effect so my skin still looks like mine but better. They also offer bronze-toned version called Mineral Glow Serum.

Best Refillable Cleanser: The Outset Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser
The Outset’s Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser is one of the only few gel cleansers in clean beauty that can be refilled with a refill pouch purchasable on their site. (The others are Youth To The People’s which is a pretty solid option and Yepoda The Bubble Double Cleanser, a K-beauty brand that’s certified B Corp, sustainable, vegan, and cruelty-free.) I love The Outset’s lightweight, jelly-like gel consistency that gently foams and rinses clean without ever leaving my skin feeling tight orstripped feeling. The formula is thoughtful with antioxidant-rich botanicals like apple fruit extract, sunflower seed oil, avocado oil, and rice bran extract. I find that it’s gentle enough for sensitive or eczema-prone skin while still lifting away makeup and daily grime effectively. It’s fragrance-free, sulfate-free, and pleasant to use.

Best Refillable Organic Moisturizer: Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Moisturizer
KORA Organics makes a refillable certified organic face moisturizer that’s easily available at Sephora stores. It’s got an impressive 99.8% natural and 70% organic formula made with a base of organic Aloe Vera leaf juice and Turmeric, Noni, Licorice Extract Desert Date and Maracuja oil. The consistency feels silky and pudding like, but with a slight texture quirk of tackiness that I wasn’t a fan of in the beginning. It’s got a noticeably yellow tint from the turmeric, but doesn’t stain skin at all. One thing to note in terms of practicality is design-forward lid is clunky and oddly large, so if you have smaller hands, screwing it on and off might feel tedious. Overall, I feel Kora’s Turmeric Glow Moisturizer is a solid truly clean and organic face cream that’s easily accessible and reasonably affordable – a rarity in today’s climate!

Best Refillable Eye Creams
Innbeauty Project Extreme Cream Eye is a dense eye cream that moisturizes skin drier than the Sahara and is absolutely packed with advanced actives like growth factors, three types of peptides, three types of ceramides, and arginine. It comes in a very hefty glass bottle (except the Calm The Red Down) so not for people who don’t like handling heavy packaging. Both their Firming & Lifting Moisturizer and Eye Cream have no scent and actually provide long lasting moisturization. Their Extreme Cream line wins for being the creamiest moisturizer on the market.
Price: $50 | Refill price: $37.40 | 1.7oz
Beekman’s Advanced Better Aging Dual Eye Treatment is a very interesting 2-in-1 eye cream product that includes both a serum and cream with a double-sided applicator (one side is for lower eyelid and the other for upper eyelid). The cream portion has goat milk exosomes, Polyglutamic Acid and a phytorelaxer, while the serum portion also has a microcurrent peptide. It tackles a wide variety of aging concerns with the eye area including fine lines, laxity and poor circulation. I find the consistency very silky and texture elegant. My only complaint is the refill is only available through subscription.

Best Refillable Natural Deodorant: Wild Deodorant
Wild makes refillable deodorants that are 98% natural, vegan, cruelty free, Leaping Bunny certified, paraben free and phthalates free. They’re sold at Target, come in so many fun case colors and creative scents, including an unscented version. For sensitive pits Wild uses rice starch instead of baking soda and all their deodorants are made using plant butters and oils like Cocoa Seed Butter, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Shea Butter. I find their refillable deodorant to have a dense consistency that’s on the drier side. I appreciate that it doesn’t get mushy during summer and mine even held up well during my Sri Lanka trip and kept me stink-free. I do find the case to be quite large and would prefer for it to be smaller, especially since the actual refill is much comparatively smaller. I appreciate that the bottom of the case has a twist function so you can move the product up and down easily. Other refillable deodorants I’ve tried, I have to manually push the deodorant up directly and press down directly.
Routine is my holy grail natural deodorant, but their refills come in ginormous bulk size only. It’s THAT good though.

Best Refillable Hand Cream: Soft Services Theraplush Overnight Repair Treatment
Soft Services Theraplush Overnight Repair Treatment is a refillable hand cream that has the smartest formulation and packaging design I’ve seen. It’s a medium-dense, silky cream formulated with real retinol at a dose that actually does something, plus soothing colloidal oatmeal and panthenol. Where it really stands out is the beautifully packaging design that disguises itself as a piece of decor on my nightstand. It looks as good as it performs and my hands genuinely wake up softer and looked more even-toned after a week. It sinks in beautifully and absorbs sooo fast with no residue or tackiness left over. The formulation is honestly good enough for my face, so when I’m too tired to do skincare, having this on my nightstand is so convenient.

Best Refillable Makeup Brand: Kjaer Weis
Kjaer Weis is an OG refillable clean makeup brand that’s entirely certified organic or certified natural, and completely free from parabens, silicones, petrochemical emulsifiers and synthetic fragrances. They were the first organic makeup brand to use sleek, refillable metal compacts and made sustainability chic and accessible for everyone. I’ve tried their lipstick, lip gloss, eyeshadow, foundation and blush and my favorite Kjaer Weis product is their cream blush in shade Happy. Their eyeshadow is so buttery with great pigment power, while their lip gloss is creamy and nourishing with rosehip oil, sunflower seed, vanilla, and shea butter. I wholeheartedly recommend and stand by this line if you’re looking for high-end organic makeup.

Best Refillable Foundation: rms ReEvolve Liquid Foundation
rms is an OG clean makeup brand that has really moved towards making a lot of their products refillable. It makes so much sense since their products are cult favorites in the clean beauty community! I absolutely love their ReEvolve Liquid Foundation for serious full coverage and a matte finish. The original bottle is so big that I simply take the refill only when I travel. This foundation gives concealer level coverage that lasts the entire day for me and has nourishing plant botanicals like Vegetable Squalane, horsetail, St. John’s Wort, ashwagandha, and turmeric root. For me this is a versatile liquid concealer and foundation in one.

Best Refillable Facial Balm: Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Moisturizing Nectar
Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Moisturizing Nectar is now available as a refill, which is great because I’ve gone through multiple jars over the last five years. The refill pod has a real lid instead of removable foil, so it’s totally possible to just get the refill to save on space (price is the same though). This facial balm has hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, peptides, silk amino acids, proprietary Dutch tulip complex, 30% glycerin and a weirdly satisfying jelly balm consistency that feels like an ointment. It’s a great plant-based natural alternative to petroleum jelly, and creates a thick, occlusive barrier that prevents moisture from escaping. I use this as a last step in my night skincare routine to lock in all the product layers underneath.

Best Refillable Face Oil and Cleansing Balm: Activist Skincare Precious Oils and Sea to Skin
Activist Skincare is 100% built around a refill system and makes their natural, non toxic and plant-based skincare in small batches in California. They’re vegan, cruelty-free, and free from harmful ingredients, parabens, and synthetic fragrance. My favorite product of theirs I’ve tried is the Sea to Skin Cleansing Gel. This is a standout cleansing balm that I feel is totally slept on. It has the most satisfying gel-balm texture and shifts from gel to oil on contact, rinsing off makeup and sunscreen without any greasy residue. The Precious Oils Active Infusion impressed me with a genuinely active-packed formula that’s got coenzyme Q10, bisabolol and plant-based antioxidants, rather than just some plant oils mixed together. I would skip their Active Hydration Vitamin C Serum. It feels kinda tacky and not like a true Vitamin C serum, though the ingredient list itself is solid. My only gripe, as with many refill products, is that the refill is nearly the same cost as the regular packaging product. I love their mission and ethos and it’s a brand worth checking out if you want to build full skincare routine that’s refillable.

Best Refillable Anti Aging Moisturizer: Yoe Ympossible Cream (luxe!)
Yoe Ympossible Cream is a refillable anti-aging cream that’s vegan, sensitive skin friendly and targets firmness, hyperpigmentation, redness, fine lines and wrinkles, AND defends skin against pollution, UV and blue light. It’s soo rich and velvety with a dense consistency that sinks in nicely. What sets it apart is the SynerGenius delivery system that gradually releases 14 interesting actives, like an Epidermal Growth Factor, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Ceramides, Squalane, Panthenol, Vitamin E, Chebula, Diosmin, Red Algae, Timut Pepper, and Rice Water. It’s fragrance free but has a slight herbal scent from the natural ingredients that quickly dissipates. This is a luxury face cream that’s best for normal to dry skin and people who live in dry climates (skip if you’re oily!). I love how intensely moisturizing this cream is and my skin feels instantly softer and more supple. When my skin is especially dry, this brings it back to life and I even detect a subtle firming effect, especially as I’ve lost laxity in recent years.

Best Refillable Body Butter: Shelter Skin No 1 Vanilla Tallow Body Butter
Shelter Skin’s Body Butter is an entirely organic body butter that’s made with just five ingredients of 100% organic grass-fed and grass-finished beef tallow, organic jojoba oil, organic vanilla bean, organic vanilla planifolia fruit extract, and vitamin E. I’m actually so impressed by what Catherine Lockhart (one of clean beauty’s very own content creators) has created. Not only does it come in a generous amount of product (6.7 oz), there’s both a jumbo size of 17oz and refill size available. I’ve never seen this offering in my ten years as a beauty editor. The vanilla one smells like I just scraped real vanilla bean straight from the pod and whipped in some buttercream – so warm and intoxicating. It feels dense, rich and deeply moisturizing without being overly greasy. I’ve tried Primally Pure’s similarly formulated tallow-based body butter, and I prefer Shelter Skin’s for the size, texture, consistency and scent strength. I’d repurchase this over and over again, better yet I’d get the jumbo size that’s nearly 3x the amount.

Best Refillable Solid Serum: Bonjout Beauty Le Balm Skin Savior Solid Serum
Bonjout Beauty’s Le Balm Skin Savior Solid Serum might be my favorite “skincare minimalist” find of latest — it’s a solid serum, moisturizer, and eye cream packaged in a very compact, travel-friendly disc. It’s basically a facial balm, but compared to your typical clean beauty balm, it’s packed with actives you’d usually find only in a serum. Bonjour’s balm also feels denser and “drier” than a super emollient beauty balm. It’s got a whopping 68 concentrated actives, including peptides, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, Prickly Pear, Blue Bird Hibiscus, and plant native cells that help repair the skin barrier. If you’re not used to beauty balms then the texture might take a beat to get used to, but it melts on contact and absorbs well. Le Balm has no fragrance and zero detectable scent.
Price: $130 | Refill price: $115 | 1oz

Best Refillable Vitamin C Serum: Innbeauty Project Pro C Serum
iNNBeauty Project’s Pro C Serum is one of the more thoughtfully formulated Vitamin C serums I’ve come across — instead of relying on just one form of Vitamin C, it uses three hyper-stable types (liposomal 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, gold-stabilized L-Ascorbic Acid, and THD). On TOP of that, it’s also got tranexamic acid, ferulic acid, and a peptide-and-growth-factor complex layered in, so in total the formula is 30% clinically proven actives, far more than the industry standard. Despite the potency, the serum doesn’t irritate my skin and has a pleasant light consistency that’s the tiniest bit milky. I find that it does help improve my skin tone and texture when it starts looking dull and uneven.
