I Tried Prequel Skincare (here’s my honest review)

I tried seven Prequel bestsellers and I’m so excited to share my brutally honest thoughts on everything I tried! This is a skin barrier-focused line that’s gentle, sensitive-skin friendly, affordable and medical dermatologist-founded. The best part – everything is under $30!

Is Prequel Clean Beauty?

Prequel is not all natural and does use synthetics and chemical preservatives. They are on the low end of the spectrum in clean beauty. I did find that some products have cleaner formulas than others.

I tried Half & Half Peptides Ceramides Fluid Moisturizer

The Half & Half Fluid Moisturizer is what got me hooked on Prequel! This product feels so inspired by K-beauty because it’s essentially a milky essence. It’s texturally super lightweight yet it’s got an undeniable creamy factor that my skin drinks up immediately. Love that it’s got an efficacious ceramide complex, peptide complex and amino acids. I can’t recommend this enough if you feel like no matter what moisturizer you use your skin still feels dry. Use this alone as a moisturizer or as an extra step before an actual face cream.

prequel hypochlorous spray

I tried Universal Skin Solution Dermal Spray

Prequel’s Dermal Spray is a hypochlorous acid spray that can be used for both face and body. It’s insanely simple yet useful. I love that it contains a superoxidized solution with pure, stabilized hypochlorous acid, electrolyzed water and a mineral concentrate. The small number of ingredients work to purify congested skin, soothe irritated skin and restore the skin barrier. This has been a godsend when my skin barrier was damaged and I needed to add hydration without overstimulating or irritating my skin further. There’s no fluff here, just a useful and versatile formula. My only complaint is that the bottle feels a bit bulky and awkward to hold.

prequel aha exfoliator

I tried Multi Acid Milk Peel AHA Exfoliating Solution

This is a powerhouse of a liquid exfoliator with 15% glycolic, phytic, malic, mandelic, lactic acids, plus enzymes! It’s texturally liquid like with a creamy, milky facet. This is a strong product, but gentle enough that I could use this everyday and my skin never felt irritated. I’ve tried other milk peels in the clean beauty space, and this is my new favorite! It feel so hydrating while also leaving my skin feeling smoother and looking glowy.

I tried Lucent C Vitamin C Serum

Prequel’s Vitamin C serum has got the trifecta of ingredients needed for a vitamin c serum to be effective. I love that it’s got a super simple, fluff-free formula of L-ascorbic acid, ferulic acid, ergothioneine, niacinamide and inulin. This is also one product that doesn’t contain chemical preservatives compared to the rest of the line. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t feel sticky or icky at all on my skin. For the price point, I think this is definitely one to consider if on the hunt for a new clean Vitamin C serum!

prequel scar solution

I tried Scar Solutions Silicone Scar Stick

This is basically a silicone (dimethicone) stick with a few extra interesting ingredients. At just $18 I wasn’t expecting any miracles and didn’t notice any difference with my scars after testing for two weeks. These were old scars though and I’ve read that it works better on new ones. I found myself running through this product very quickly. For long term use, I’d imagine buying multiple sticks is necessary. It’s also quite versatile and can be used for other skin issues like blemishes and stretch marks. This has got 60% silicone, onion bulb ferment, centella asiatica triterpenoids and bisabolol and has an emollient solid oil formula that feels just a tad greasy.

I tried Multi Quench Plumping Hydration Serum

I was so impressed by the formulation behind Prequel’s Hydration Serum. It’s got dual weight polyglutamic acid, glycerin, osmolytes and ectoin to provide maximum hydration. The consistency is a gel-liquid and dries very quickly so I get on with the rest of my skincare. I find that it works best when my skin is absolutely drenched with toner, so I would not recommend using this on dry skin. It doesn’t absorb as well, so make sure to apply on well hydrated skin. This makes my skin instantly glowy and seems to provide long lasting hydration. There’s no scent and just feels soothing and gentle.
