Naturopathica Skincare Review

Holistic skincare line Naturopathica is where herbalism, naturopathic medicine, and holistic wellness collide with cutting edge science. The brand’s philosophy is to take a holistic approach to address skin concerns, through a range of herbal remedies, tinctures, aromatherapies, and efficacious topical treatments. A truly natural and clean beauty brand, Naturopathica never uses:

  • Animal-derived ingredients (Lanolin, Musk, Collagen, Squalene)
  • Endocrine disruptors (Formaldehyde, Synthetic Fragrance, Parabens)
  • Petroleum-derived ingredients
  • Silicones
  • Any other potentially toxic or known irritants

Naturopathica is a luxury skincare brand with products priced on the higher end due to their professional grade status.  Started in 1995, this OG clean beauty brand is also used in many holistic spas and skincare studios, so you know they’re trusted by professionals. Back in 2019, I had the chance to meet Barbara Close, the founder of Naturopathica, by chance at an industry beauty expo I was working at, and she was so warm and friendly! Read on for my Naturopathica review.

Naturopathica Holy Basil Retinol Ageless Night Oil

The Naturopathica Holy Basil Retinol Night Oil features a 1% retinoid blend with holy basil and bakuchiol to soften fine lines and wrinkles and help brighten skin’s appearance. This is a very thin liquid-like oil that’s not at all heavy or greasy and has a slight blue shade that only allows for nighttime application. At $124 the Retinol Night Oil is one of the pricier items in the Naturopathica line, but does come in a more luxurious bottle than the other Naturopathica products.

Naturopathica Retinol

You can see that the Retinol Night Oil is a runny liquid, which isn’t my preferred consistency in a face oil as I like something that’s more unctuous. For some reason, every time I used the pump, the oil would shoot out like a jet, so I had to be careful in making sure it was facing into the sink or else the product would fly everywhere. I have mixed feelings about this oil, but it seems to be a popular favorite among those looking to tackle wrinkles.

Naturopathica PASSION FRUIT & RETINOL AGELESS EYE SERUM

Naturopathica Passionfruit Retinol Ageless Eye Serum

I enjoyed the Naturopathica Passionfruit Retinol Ageless Eye Serum more than the Retinol Night Oil, and would definitely use this to fight the fine lines forming under my eyes. Naturopathica recommends using the eye serum twice per week on non-consecutive nights and warns that redness and flaking may occur, but even with daily use, I experienced no side effects. The serum has a silky texture and pale yellow shade, sinks in effortlessly and immediately hydrates the eye area.

Naturopathica calendula essential hydrating lotion SPF 30 sunscreen

Naturopathica Calendula Essential Hydrating Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen

The Naturopathica Calendula Essential Hydrating Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen that launched in 2021 has to be one of the most sophisticated luxury mineral sunscreens I’ve tried. This broad spectrum mineral sunscreen applies like a true lotion, but is so lightweight and almost airy. The finish is Matte.

Naturopathica Sunscreen

With barely a swipe, the Calendula Essential Hydrating Lotion SPF 30 sinks in immediately and leaves hardly any hint of a white cast, despite the 15% Zinc Oxide content. If you’re tired of the rich mineral sunscreens that feel greasy, this is a great option to look into. The Calendula scent is also strong and soothing. If you don’t mind the splurge, I can hands down recommend this sunscreen.
