34 Best Women’s Wellness Retreats in 2026

Today I’m sharing my picks for the best women’s wellness retreats that get the balance of rejuvenation, nourishment, spirituality, spa, mental health and movement just right. The best solo retreat will be transformational, empowering and healing with mindfulness, fitness, organic food, meditation, spiritual wellness, excursions, and connection.

women only wellness retreat 2026 and 2027 USA

I solo traveled to Bali recently and I thought about where I could do an amazing women only wellness retreat right on my home turf. I’ll be giving you the most realistic and up-to-date look at each top-rated wellness retreat. If you’ve been to any, I’d love to know what your experience was like!

Why Do A Solo Women’s Wellness Retreat

  • You get actual, uninterrupted rest. We’re all tired! A solo retreat removes yourself entirely from your normal day-to-day environment so you can focus on resting without distractions.
  • You’ll actually keep the routine while you’re there. Structured programming keeps you focused throughout your stay.
  • Women’s Only retreats offer female friendship and community. Let’s be real, the vibes are off when men are around. Sometimes you just need to be surrounded by soft feminine energy.
  • Allows you to process a major life transition or starting over. Some retreats like Modern Elder Academy are built specifically around midlife, retirement, or a career pivot, giving you dedicated time and a peer group to actually process destabilizing life changes like divorce, breakup or loss. Or maybe you’re just in a phase where you wanna ponder your life choices and where you see yourself in the future.
  • Feel safe while traveling solo.
  • Experience something totally new that maybe your partner or friend wouldn’t sign up for. No need to hem and haw or convince someone to go with.
  • Learn new skills & knowledge to take back home for greater well-being, mentally, physically and emotionally. Many retreats offer workshops and guest speakers.
  • Recharge: Because life be lifin’ and we’ve all gotta fill our own cup first! A beautifully holistic healing experience may be just what you need.

The Perfect Women’s Wellness Retreat

The details that make a retreat truly holistic, restorative & transformative from one that just looks good in photos.

🌲

Setting & Location

It’s gotta have nature of course and feel like a sanctuary and haven away from civilization.

🥗

Food

Must serve nutritious, balanced, organic, and whole foods, with flexibility for dietary needs. Bonus points if someone can actually tell you why a dish was chosen, not just set it down in front of you.

🧘‍♀️

Programming Mix

A good balance of movement, pampering spa time and workshops, plus free time on the schedule.

🤍

People & Community

A group small enough that you actually get to know people, facilitators who know what they’re doing, and some built-in time to bond instead of a packed schedule with no room to breathe.

🌿

Non-Toxic Environment

Natural fiber bedding, filtered water, natural scents, and clean beauty products for a safe, non-toxic environment.

🎁

Send-Off & Integration

Some kind of plan, journal, or framework to take home, so you can continue to implement new habits and knowledge in real life.

🛡️

Safety & Vetting

Background-checked facilitators, clear emergency and medical protocols, and transportation that’s arranged ahead of time.

🌸

Life-Stage Programming

Different life stages we might be in taken into consideration, like divorce, loss, perimenopause, menopause, postpartum recovery, etc.

🤝

Consent Culture

Trauma-informed facilitators and a clear opt-in, opt-out norm — for anything hands-on, like massage or partner yoga, and anything emotionally exposed, like group sharing circles.

🌙

Sleep Environment

I better get the best sleep of my life, so I need private room options, blackout curtains, and quiet hours.

💳

Pricing Transparency

All-inclusive pricing, no surprise upsells once you’ve arrived, and a clear list upfront of whatever’s not included.

True Inclusivity

Body diversity, age diversity, and representation matter

📝

Pre-Retreat Prep

A short intake form or call beforehand, so dietary needs, physical limitations, and goals are already known before you arrive.

My dream solo retreat would have all the elements above AND be dog friendly so I can bring my pup and connect with other dog lovers.

How to Pick the Right Solo Retreat

First things first, figure out WHY you’re going:

  • A full stop: no schedule, no phone signal, just peace and quiet. A complete off-grid digital detox
  • Structured programming: You want a daily itinerary, workshops, and expert-led sessions, not unstructured downtime
  • Movement and fitness: You’re a fitness girlie who wants hiking, yoga, strength training, fencing, and reformer pilates classes
  • A specific life stage or transition: You’re needing to process something heavy, midlife, divorce, burnout recovery, grief, loss or simply slow down, recharge and reconnect with yourself.
  • Solo-friendly without a rigid “retreat” format: you want company with the freedom to do what you want without an itinerary.
  • A low-commitment first try: You’re looking for a single day or an affordable weekend
  • Community and friendship: You’re looking for human connection and new gal pals. You just might form your own sisterhood of the traveling pants!

Then you can look for ones that fit your desired location, budget and how many days you want to go for.

hawaii wellness retreat for women only oahu

Best Retreat for Women Over 50 and 60: O’ahu Wellness Retreats (Hawaii)

O’ahu Wellness Retreats runs its women only retreats out of three private homes across Kahala, Ka’a’awa, and the Windward side, which keeps the group small and the vibe similar to a house trip with friends than a formal program. They very much want you to find community and friendship in this homey environment. Days are built around beach time, kayaking, snorkeling, luau and North Shore excursions, with farm-to-table meals sourced from local, non-chain businesses. Rates start around $2,400 per week, all-inclusive with a private bed, all meals, activities, and transportation covered. This year’s Kahala retreats are all sold out, but there’s one Windward Property retreat happening Nov 15-22, 2026 and summer 2027 retreat dates open for both Windward and beachfront.

Best Luxury Women’s Wellness Retreat: Golden Door (San Marcos, California)

Golden Door runs most weeks as women-only, caps its guest count at around 50, and structures the stay as a Sunday-to-Sunday retreat on a property designed like a Japanese inn. You’ll enjoy daily massages and skincare treatments, 30 miles of private hiking trails, pools, tennis courts, archery, and roughly 80 fitness and movement classes spanning yoga, dance, Tai Chi, and personal training, farm-to-table chef-prepared meals, meditation and mindfulness programming, and a 5:1 staff-to-guest ratio. 5 Mountains Retreat Montana women only

Best for an Women Only Wilderness Adventure: 5 Mountains Retreat (Bitterroot Mountains, Montana)

5 Mountains Retreat is one of the most interesting, affordable women’s retreats I’ve come across. They offer a more adventurous backcountry retreat into the remote wilderness of Montana’s Bitterroot Mountains via mule, capped at six women and led by a team of four, with women’s drum circles, fire ceremonies, waterfall bathing, fly fishing, meditation and wall-tent lodging. Their Sacred Mountain Week takes place at their house and costs $2,000 for a 7 night retreat with lake / river time, forest bathing, reiki, sound baths, sister circles, evening gatherings, home cooked meals, scenic tours, creative expression, yoga, hiking and day horse rides.

Who it’s for: Women-only — every program on their calendar is explicitly built for women. Signature amenities: A mule-supported backcountry route with wall-tent lodging; a strict 6-guest cap for the flagship trip; gourmet meals and outfitter guides included.

Wiawaka Center for Women US

Best Historic, Budget-Friendly Women Only Retreat: Wiawaka Center for Women (Lake George, New York)

Wiawaka Center for Women holds the title of the oldest continuously operating retreat for women in America. The history here is super cool – it was founded in 1903 by Mary Fuller and Katrina Trask as a “Holiday House” so working-class women from the garment mills of Troy and Cohoes could get an affordable break in nature. The first season drew 176 guests at $3.50 a week (where’s a time machine when you need one😭). Today the 60-acre lakefront property runs a full summer calendar of guest-led retreats. Outside of retreat weekends, the grounds — hiking trails, gardens, a fairy trail, a labyrinth, a dock, and swimming areas on Lake George — are open as a $15 day pass or a season pass running less than $4 a day, which also includes a 10% discount on overnight stays.

Next retreat: Aug 27-29, 2026 Mother’s Healing

Who it’s for: Women only, 18+, from solo visitors on a day pass to guests booking a named retreat weekend. Signature amenities: 123-plus years of continuous operation as a women’s retreat; a full summer calendar of named, instructor-led retreat weekends; a 60-acre Lake George property with trails, a labyrinth, and swimming access at day-pass prices.

Best Costal Hot Springs Setting Retreat: Esalen (Big Sur, California)

Esalen is a longtime favorite among women looking for a stunning coastal hot springs setting rather than a built spa tub. The retreat sits on a bluff over the Pacific in Big Sur, with clothing-optional natural hot springs built into the cliffside baths and a farm-to-table dining program that pulls produce from its own Farm & Garden alongside local Big Sur and Monterey County suppliers — three scratch-made meals a day, with vegan, omnivorous, and gluten-free options built in. There are three ways to stay:

  • A named retreat with a set leader and theme, like the Meditation and Modern Life Zen Meditation Retreat (Aug 28–31, led by Dan Zigmond), The Turning Season: Aligning with Autumn’s Sacred Rhythms (Oct 9–12, led by Jillian Pransky, $965–$8,075 depending on accommodation), or the Gratitude Retreat (Nov 20–22, led by Janet Stone, plus a $100 faculty tuition fee)
  • A single-topic workshop on one narrower focus
  • A Self-Guided Exploration week with no set agenda, covering housing, all meals, hot springs access, and the open class schedule

Self-guided weekends (3 days/2 nights) run $560–$5,000+ depending on accommodation, from Sleeping Bag Spaces up to premium suites like South Point House, and weeklong stays (5 days/4 nights) run $940–$8,560.

Next themed retreats:

  • Oct 5-9: Integrative Gestalt Practice™: Embodied Presence, Connection, and Inner Guidance
  • Oct 13-18, 2026: Earth-Body: An Eco-Somatic Backpacking Journey & Retreat
  • Nov 16-20, 2026: The Plants Who Know Us: Traditions of Botanical Kinship
  • Feb 12-14, 2027: The Heart of Relationship: A Weekend of Gestalt Inquiry for Couples and Friends

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: Clothing-optional natural hot springs on a Pacific bluff; farm-to-table dining from Esalen’s own garden and local growers; the choice of a named leader-led retreat, a single-topic workshop, or a fully self-guided stay from $560 (weekend) to $940 (week).

women's wellness retreats THOR US Tennessee

Midlife Women Only Yoga Retreat: The House of Rose (Sevierville, Tennessee)

The House of Rose (THOR) runs entirely as women’s wellness retreats — yoga, weight-loss-focused programs, and fitness retreats, including named programs built specifically for midlife and nervous-system restoration, like the 5-day/4-night Somatic Nervous System Reset and the Deeply Restorative Yoga & Nature Retreat. The location is incredible, 50 acres in the Smoky Mountains about 1.5 hours southeast of Knoxville. All their 2026 retreats are full, but for 2027 pricing starts at $1,995 for a double occupancy. THOR also runs destination trips off-property, including a South of France retreat (September 15–20, 2026) and a Sedona yoga and hiking retreat (June 9–13, 2027). It’s more sporty vibe than spiritual, and the food is particularly good.

Next retreat date: February 10-14, 2027 Deeply Restorative Yoga & Nature Retreat OR Somatic Nervous System Reset – Yoga & Spa Retreat

Who it’s for: Women only — every retreat on their calendar is branded specifically for women. Signature amenities: Daily hike or excursion paired with yoga

sensei wellness retreat Hawaii california Palm Springs Mexico

Best Luxury Wellness Retreat: Sensei Wellbeing Retreat (Hawaii, California and Mexico)

Sensei is a newish luxury wellness resort with three locations: Sensei Lānaʻi (a Four Seasons property in Hawaii, with Nobu-run dining), Sensei Porcupine Creek (a 230-acre private desert property in Rancho Mirage, California, with its own golf and tennis facilities), and Sensei at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Los Cabos, Mexico. Their whole concept is very tech driven and data-personalized with three main pillars (Move, Nourish, Rest), and wellness “guides” who tailor a program using biometric and lifestyle data.

luxury wellness resort mii amo Sedona Arizona

Best for High-End Seclusion: Mii Amo (Sedona, Arizona)

I absolutely love Sedona and inside Boynton Canyon, one of the region’s energy vortexes, is the high-end Mii Amo destination spa. It’s intimate by design with just 23 casitas and suites, each with a fireplace, its own outdoor space, and heated bathroom floors. Rather than a fixed itinerary, guests build a personalized “Journey” with an intuitive staff, pulling from fitness coaching, Trail House hikes, Artist Cottage creative sessions, and a Wellbeing Pathways series that includes programming like “The Wisdom of Ayurveda.” Spa treatments come with a generous daily credit built into the package, and Hummingbird, the on-site restaurant, cooks seasonally from its own Chef’s Garden. Packages run 2 to 10 nights, all-inclusive of meals, spa credit, and gratuities, for ages 16 and up. You can expect quality as they hold Forbes Five-Star recognition, and a sense of quiet transformation.

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: A small, quiet Boynton Canyon setting; standout spa cuisine; a shared-grounds arrangement with neighboring Enchantment Resort.

Best Luxury Beachside Hiking Retreat: The Ranch Malibu (Malibu, California and Hudson Valley)

The Ranch Malibu is considered Hollywood’s go-to wellness boot camp and is built around roughly eight hours of guided activity a day, starting with your choice of 2 or 4 hour hikes, followed by strength training, yoga, and a daily massage. It’s open to all fitness levels, caps groups at 25 guests across 21 private cottages, and meals come from the property’s own regenerative-certified organic garden, plant-forward and portioned around 1,400 calories a day. The signature program runs 6 to 8 nights, with newer 3- and 4-night options for a shorter stay and includes:

  • Private accommodations for each guest
  • Morning wake – up with Tibetan chimes

  • Choice of a 2 or 4 hour daily guided hikes with ocean views
  • Daily afternoon fitness class
  • Daily restorative yoga or meditation class
  • Weekly sound bath
  • Daily massage for each full day
  • Organic, plant-forward meals and snacks focus on detoxification and revitalization
  • Bod Pod body composition analysis

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: a regenerative-certified organic garden supplying plant-forward meals, infrared sauna, cold plunge

wellness retreat laguna beach california

Best Small-Group Boutique Retreat: The Pearl Laguna (Laguna Beach, California)

The Pearl Laguna is tucked into a canyon sanctuary in Laguna Beach and runs with just 12 guest rooms. Retreats are owner-led by yoga instructors Geo and Katresha rather than a rotating staff and are offered with four program lengths — a 3-Day Reset, a 4-Day Recharge, a 5-Day Immersion, and the “Best Value” 1-Week Transformation. You can expect a nervous-system-reset framework of daily yoga, guided hikes through Laguna’s canyon trails, breathwork, daily massages, and plant-based meals, with a digital detox built in. The property also has an infrared sauna, cold plunge, saltwater jacuzzi, traditional banya, art studios, and dedicated sound healing spaces, plus a complimentary shuttle from Orange County Airport (SNA). Guests can also extend a stay well past a week — some stay 3 to 4 weeks. Pricing isn’t published; you submit a booking request for a direct quote.

Who it’s for: Co-ed, tailored to all fitness and experience levels. Signature amenities: Four named program lengths (3-Day Reset up to 1-Week Transformation); a hard cap of 8–12 guests across just 12 rooms; on-site infrared sauna, cold plunge, saltwater jacuzzi, and traditional banya.

kripalu center yoga retreat.png

Best Known, No-Frills Yoga Retreat: Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health (Stockbridge, Massachusetts)

Kripalu is the most well known yoga retreat center in the US with tons of programs running all the time plus yoga teacher trainings. They get consistently strong marks for its programming, food, and classes — but keep in mind this isn’t a luxury property. Rooms range from $109–$129 a night for a shared dormitory with a hall bath, up to $369–$489 a night for a private en-suite room in the newer, eco-friendly Annex building. The basic rooms can be very bare bones, so if you’re picturing a Four Seasons-style room, I would skip this retreat. If you’re fine with simple, dorm-style lodging in exchange for excellent yoga programming, ecstatic dance sessions, and good vegan food, it’s worth putting on your radar.

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: Yoga-based programming and ecstatic dance sessions; strong vegan dining; lodging options spanning shared dorms to a private eco-friendly Annex. What to know: The base-rate rooms are very no frills — cinder-block walls and dorm-style bathrooms down the hall

stanford inn wellness retreat california

Best Boutique Coastal Resort: Stanford Inn (Mendocino, California)

Set on California’s Pacific Coast, Stanford Inn runs several named retreat programs rather than one generic wellness package. The Creative Journey Retreat, led by registered art therapist Joan Stanford, runs three times in 2026 (January 22–25, April 23–26, and October 22–25) and pairs five guided creative sessions — art-making, writing, a nature walk — with a copy of Joan’s book The Art of Play; three nights run $1,910 single occupancy or $1,310 per person double occupancy, plus taxes and fees. The resort also runs three dedicated Vegan Retreats in 2026 (May 7–11, July 9–13, September 10–14), four nights each, led by nutritionist and author Sid Garza-Hillman, including two plant-based cooking classes, a stress-management “Small Steps Class,” and a mountain bike rental, priced from $1,885 per person double occupancy. Both sit on top of the property’s standing ocean-and-forest setting and on-site restaurant.

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: Named seasonal retreats (Creative Journey, Vegan Retreat) rather than one generic program; instructor-led sessions from a registered art therapist and a professional nutritionist; a fully vegan on-site restaurant

Hawaii Women's Wellness Retreat Four Seasons Resort Lanai's Midlife & Longevity Retreat

Best Hawaii Women’s Wellness Retreat: Four Seasons Resort Lanai’s Midlife & Longevity Retreat

Four Seasons Lanai’s “Midlife & Longevity: A Women’s Transformational Retreat” is a 4 day retreat led by two physicians, menopause specialist Dr. Jessica Shepherd and longevity practitioner Dr. Ingrid Yang, covering hormonal balance, gut health, cardiovascular health, sleep, and nervous-system regulation. It was supposed to run in August this year, but they’ve changed the date and will be updating me once they finalize the new dates. Mornings will include strength training and breathwork adapted for midlife physiology, afternoons mix education with restorative practice, and evenings include dinners at Nobu Lanai and Osteria Mozza, a sunset cruise, and stargazing at the island’s observatory. Rates start at $4,995 per person in single occupancy and include flights from Honolulu, ground transportation, a spa treatment, and select meals — this is the highest-end, most medically-driven option on the list, but it only runs once a year on fixed dates.

Who it’s for: Designed exclusively for women, running on fixed August dates. Signature amenities: Physician-led curriculum on hormones, gut health, and longevity; flights from Honolulu and ground transport included; dinners at Nobu Lanai and Osteria Mozza.

the art of living retreat center wellness US north carolina

Best Mother Daughter Retreat: The Art of Living Retreat Center (Boone, North Carolina)

Set on a 380-acre campus in the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Art of Living Retreat Center runs structured, multi-day programs (including a dedicated Mother-Daughter Wellness Retreat). The mother-daughter package starts at $1,623 for two nights in double occupancy and includes a 60-minute Ayurvedic massage per person through the on-site Shankara Ayurveda Spa, plus meditation, yoga, labyrinth walks, nightly kirtan (devotional singing), and daily bonfires. General programs across the property run $549–$1,505 per person depending on length.

Next retreat dates: Sep 2-4, 2026 The Happiness Retreat | See 3-7, 2026 Stepping into Silence Retreat

Who it’s for: Co-ed, with some programs (like the Mother-Daughter Wellness Retreat) built specifically for women, 18+. Signature amenities: An Ayurveda-based curriculum through the on-site Shankara Spa; a genuine multi-day program structure rather than drop-in classes; a 380-acre Blue Ridge Mountains campus with labyrinth walks and nightly kirtan.

Best for Workshop Variety: Omega Institute (Rhinebeck, New York)

Omega has a lake, a wellness center, and a packed calendar of visiting speakers and authors — its 2026 season lineup already includes Brian Weiss, Martha Beck, Nicole Sachs, Damien Echols, and Brianna Wiest across more than 300 in-person and online programs, with new workshops posted monthly and a full print catalog mailed each March. The vibe leans much more toward cabin camping around a central dining hall than a polished resort.

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: A packed calendar of named visiting authors and speakers (300+ programs a season); a lakefront wellness center; cabin-style lodging around a central dining hall. What to know: Book any spa treatments as soon as you arrive, or ahead of time if possible, since on-site scheduling can be difficult once you’re there; and pack for ticks if you’re spending time in the surrounding woods and fields. The lodging is authentically rustic cabin-camping rather than resort-style, which might be a good or bad thing depending on what you’re looking for.

Best for a Digital Detox: C Lazy U Ranch (Granby, Colorado)

This 100-year-old Colorado guest ranch runs family weeks alongside dedicated women’s retreat weeks, the most notable being the Ladies and Lassos Cowgirl Getaway — a four-night, adults-only retreat (its 2026 session runs September 13–17) offering horsemanship clinics, a “Horses and Happy Hour” pasture session, cattle sorting, a hay barn dance, and nightly wine tastings. No cabins have in-room TVs, and there are 200-plus horses on-site. Rates run from about $799 per person per night in double occupancy ($928 single), plus taxes and a 20% resort fee; the getaway routinely sells down to a single available cabin as the date nears, so it’s worth booking early or joining the wait list.

Who it’s for: Co-ed year-round, with the Ladies and Lassos Cowgirl Getaway as a dedicated women-only week each September. Signature amenities: 200-plus horses on-site with daily horsemanship clinics; a hay barn dance and cattle sorting built into the cowgirl-specific week; no in-room TVs.

modern elder academy wellness retreat for midlife

Best for Midlife: Modern Elder Academy (Santa Fe, New Mexico & Baja California Sur, Mexico)

Modern Elder Academy runs its programming across two campuses — an oceanfront property in Baja California Sur and a 2,600-acre regenerative desert ranch in Santa Fe — with a curriculum developed alongside researchers from Stanford, Harvard, UC Berkeley, and Yale. Specific workshops run throughout 2026 and into 2027, including “Reboot: Leadership & the Art of Growing Up” (Sept 23–27, $4,000), “True North: Live and Lead with Purpose” (Nov 8–12, $3,960), and “Designing Your Best Decade for Couples” (offered in both October and March); the flagship MEA Purpose Fellowship runs January 17–21, 2027 at $20,000. Guest faculty has included Elizabeth Gilbert, Arthur Brooks, and Martha Beck, and roughly half of attendees receive some form of scholarship support.

Who it’s for: Co-ed — alumni come from all professions and backgrounds. Signature amenities: Two campuses (oceanfront Baja, 2,600-acre Santa Fe desert ranch); named guest faculty (Elizabeth Gilbert, Arthur Brooks, Martha Beck); scholarship support for roughly half of attendees.

Shoshoni Yoga Retreat

Best True Budget Pick: Shoshoni Yoga Retreat (Rollinsville, Colorado)

Just outside Boulder, Shoshoni runs on a genuinely tiered pricing structure rather than one flat rate: seasonal tent camping and dorm beds run $110–$125 a night, while private options range from a shared private dorm bed at $145 up to the Karma Cottage at $155–$265 a night, all of which include hiking, meditation, and meals. The property runs on a walk-in, most-weekends-of-the-year model, and periodically layers themed retreat weekends onto the same accommodation rates plus an added program fee, so it’s worth checking their events calendar directly if you want to time a visit around a specific theme.

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: Tiered pricing from $110/night camping up to private cottages; themed weekend programming layered onto standard rates; walk-in availability most weekends year-round.

Best Single Day Option: Nemacolin (Farmington, Pennsylvania)

If a multi-night stay isn’t realistic right now, Nemacolin sells a $400 day retreat pass that includes a full yoga program and a sound-bowl healing session across its 2,200-acre property — a rare offering among resorts of this size, most of which require an overnight package to access programming at all. Lodging is booked separately if you want to extend the visit into a full stay.

Who it’s for: Co-ed. Signature amenities: A single-day retreat pass with no overnight requirement; sound-bowl healing session included; 2,200 acres to explore if you extend the stay.

Mount Madonna Center meditation retreat USA

Best Meditation and Silent Retreat: Mount Madonna Center (Watsonville, California)

Mount Madonna sits on 380 acres of redwoods and rolling meadows on a mountain summit overlooking Monterey Bay, founded in 1978 by the Hanuman Fellowship, a spiritual community built around teacher Baba Hari Dass, who had been running yoga retreats on nearby land since 1974. A personal retreat includes lodging, three vegetarian meals a day (two on Saturdays), full campus access, and free yoga and meditation classes, plus the option to join morning and evening arati (light ceremony) at the on-site Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple. Accommodations range from six different tiers — Ram Cottages, guest rooms, rustic no-plumbing cabins, yurts, seasonal glamping tents, and simple camping or RV parking — so the price point stretches from a basic tent site to a private cottage room. Beyond open-ended personal retreats, the center also runs named group programs on its calendar, including the Living Yoga Retreat each spring and the 48th Annual Liberation Summer Yoga Retreat in 2026, reflecting just how long its programming has run continuously.

Who it’s for: Co-ed, self-directed personal retreats as well as scheduled group programs. Signature amenities: 380 acres of redwood forest with Monterey Bay views; a working Hindu temple with daily arati open to guests; six accommodation tiers from camping to private cottages, so cost scales with how rustic you’re willing to go.

Best Women's Wellness Retreats In The World

Best Women’s Wellness Retreats In The World

Good Enough for Oprah and Gwyneth Paltrow: The Ashram (Japan, Mallorca, Iceland and Portugal)

The Ashram stopped operating out of their Calabasas California location this year and now exclusively operate their international retreats in Japan, Canary Islands, Mallorca, Iceland, and Portugal. They’re known for being a no-frills, phone-free wellness retreat with mountain hiking, yoga, and organic vegetarian meals rather than spa treatments or resort amenities. They have tons of repeat guests, with a client list that’s reportedly included Oprah, Barbra Streisand, and Gwyneth Paltrow over the years.

Who it’s for: Runs separate men’s, women’s, and co-ed weeks — confirm the specific week’s format directly when booking, since it isn’t listed on the general site. Signature amenities: A genuinely unplugged, no-phone policy; daily mountain hiking as the core program rather than an add-on; a 50-plus-year track record.

Best Luxury Women’s Wellness Retreat in Bali: Bliss Sanctuary for Women (Bali, Indonesia)

Bliss runs three women only sanctuaries around Bali — Canggu, Seminyak, and the more exclusive Villa Peace, a two-bedroom villa shared with just one other guest — and caps each location at around 5 to 7 women at a time, with three hostesses on hand per group. The package is genuinely unlimited rather than credit-based: daily spa treatments and massages, all meals, a personal driver, and yoga and meditation are all included, and the retreat leans into flexibility, letting guests build a different itinerary every day rather than following a set schedule. It’s a multiple World Luxury Hotel Award winner, and pricing isn’t published outright — Bliss quotes each stay individually based on season, sanctuary, and length, so expect to email for a rate rather than book instantly.

Who it’s for: Women only, with no couples or children permitted at any of the three sanctuaries. Signature amenities: Unlimited daily spa treatments and meals; a personal driver included; boutique scale capped at 5–7 guests with 3 hostesses per group.

Runner-Up Best Bali Women’s Retreat: Escape Haven (Bali, Indonesia)

Escape Haven in Bali runs a 3-to-1 staff-to-guest ratio across roughly 80 wellness specialists — yoga, meditation, ayurveda, and spa teams — and the property includes Jacuzzi suites, ice plunge pools, and two pools built around a central fire pit. Meals are prepared by in-house therapeutic chefs with years of tenure, dairy- and gluten-free by default, and programming is built specifically around women’s life stages, with dedicated packages for menopause, grief, and mother-daughter trips. Their reviews are impressive with over 1,600 five-star reviews, and rates start around $2,295 for twin share or $2,595 for a private room per week.

Who it’s for: Women only, with programming built around menopause, grief, and mother-daughter trips. Signature amenities: A 3:1 staff-to-guest ratio; ice plunge pools and Jacuzzi suites; therapeutic chef-prepared meals.

Best Women Only Retreat in Mexico: Palmaïa, The House of AïA (Riviera Maya, Mexico)

Palmaïa positions itself as a full luxury resort rather than a rustic retreat center, with unlimited spa and yoga access built into every stay and a kitchen that’s entirely plant-based, down to the room service menu. It runs both women only and unisex retreat weeks, so be sure to check for exact dates. Rates start around $2,379 for three nights, putting it at the higher end for a short stay, but the trade-off is resort-level amenities most retreat centers don’t attempt.

Who it’s for: Both women only and unisex weeks are offered — confirm the retreat calendar before booking. Signature amenities: Fully plant-based dining, including room service; unlimited spa and yoga access; resort-level grounds and pools.

women only surf retreat mama wata costa rica

Best Women’s Surf Retreat: Mama Wata (Nosara, Costa Rica)

For a women’s only surf retreat, check out Mama Wata in Costa Rica. They cater to both first-timers and advanced surfers so don’t worry if you’ve never been on a board before. Nosara’s beach break is beginner-friendly, and the retreat pairs daily surf sessions with yoga and community meals instead of a packed spa schedule. A week runs roughly $3,150 to $4,000 or more, all-inclusive.

Who it’s for: Women only, with coaching for both beginner and advanced surfers. Signature amenities: Daily surf coaching on a beginner-friendly break; yoga and community meals included; all-inclusive weekly pricing.

Best for Outdoor Adventure: Women in Adventure (Scotland, United Kingdom)

Women in Adventure is for the fit gals who aren’t interested in luxury spa and yoga, and want to challenge themselves physically instead. It’s built entirely around guided outdoor activity like hiking, kayaking, and cycling through remote stretches of the Scottish Highlands and coast. It’s built for women who find “wellness” through physical challenge rather than stillness, and trips run in small guided groups rather than a resort setting. Pricing runs $1,800 to $2,751 depending on trip length, and this is the clearest pick on the list if a traditional spa retreat isn’t actually what you’re after.

Who it’s for: Women only, in small guided groups. Signature amenities: Guided hiking, kayaking, and cycling; remote Highlands and coastal routes; small-group format.

Good To Know

Frequently Asked Questions

QHow much does a wellness retreat cost?

Rustic and budget options like a day pass at Shoshoni or Nemacolin start around $150–$400. Mid-range multi-night resorts run roughly $600–$1,500 per person. Structured programs at places like Kripalu and Omega can be booked affordably in a dorm room or upgraded to a private room for $300–$500 a night. Top-tier all-inclusive weeks (Golden Door, Mountain Trek) run $7,000 to over $10,000.

QI don’t want a shared or dorm-style room. Where should I avoid?

Be cautious with Kripalu’s and Omega’s base-rate rooms specifically, since multiple repeat guests describe them as genuinely simple and dorm-like; both offer upgraded private rooms if you want the programming without the basic accommodations.

QIs there a solo-friendly option that isn’t a structured “retreat”?

Yes — an Avalon River Cruise with no single-supplement fee, or a simple lakeside stay like Wiawaka, both let you be around other people without a set daily program.
