EVOLVh Review + Discount Code

Evolvh

Looking for effective organic hair care? After using Evolvh products for years I’m finally getting around to documenting my thoughts on the world wide web. A luxury natural haircare brand based out of the Bay area, Evolvh has certainly evolved a lot over the years with many new additions to their expanding line.

They also switched to an all-natural grapefruit essential oil fragrance!

What I appreciate about Evolvh Hair products is that instead of using ingredients that simply coat the hair to make it “look” healthy, they use ingredients that are backed by science to meet the molecular needs of strands at their very core. They are also a “no nasties” committed brand that is:

  • Free of Parabens
  • Free of Sulfates
  • Free of Gluten
  • Free of Alcohol
  • Free of Silicones
  • Free of Phthalates
  • Free of Propylene Glycol
  • Never tested on Animals
  • And only uses Palm Oil from RSPO certified producers.

Present in all of their products is their signature Phytoblend.

PHytoblend specific herbs:

Achillea Millefolium Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Black Walnut Leaves, Apple, Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Rosa Canina Flower Extract, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Blue Agave, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, Agrimony, Alfalfa, Apricot, Birch Bark, Blue Flag Root Extract, Rosa Canina Flower Extract, Meadowfoam.

evolvh leave in conditioner

Evolvh SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner

There’s 2 types of Evolvh leave-in conditioners available – Evolvh SmartStart and SmartVolume – which also happen to be some of the most popular products from the line. To be honest I don’t see any difference in volume between the two. They both nourish hair with Rice Bran Extract, Cumin Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil and Bergamot Fruit Oil. On dry hair it makes a temporary noticeable difference so I prefer to use this while hair is still damp so that it dries smoother with less frizz.

This leave-in conditioner is also a HEAT PROTECTANT & UV PROTECTANT which makes it so versatile. Living in California, the sun never stops shining so it’s important for me to protect the health of my hair not just from heat but also harmful UV rays. Compare a 5 year old child’s hair and an adult’s hair and the drastic difference is due to the environmental pollution, chemical damage, heat damage, and all the other damage we inflict on our hair throughout our lives. I make sure to spritz some of this before I leave the house and whenever I use heat styling tools (which I try to keep to a minimum).

OBL CLUB member Tyler’s Evolvh Leave In Conditioner review:

I dont normally use leave in conditioners, so this was a nice change for once. I was glad to get it before my two week trip in Las Vegas and boy did it help! Las Vegas is known for its hot dry climate with the sun beating down, drying out your skin and hair. Yeah you can moisturize your skin, drink plenty of water and all that jazz…but what about your hair? So before I would leave my hotel, after I would shower, I would spritz a nice amount in my hair and run my fingers through it and let it air dry. Let me tell you, the whole time in Vegas was mostly walking around the strip and my hair did not feel dry one moment during that trip, even after I had got back, refreshed, the leave in still kept my hair feeling soft and moisturized. I would definitely suggest this leave in for every day use, especially if you’re prone to your hair drying out.

Evolvh ultrashine shampoo

This Evolvh shampoo cleans my hair well, not leaving it feeling stripped nor greasy, and has an amazing scent like many of the other products in the line. It’s sulfate free, gluten free and vegan shampoo,  ideal for all hair types, and balances pH levels. A lathering formula, it boasts a unique blend of nourishing antioxidants, plus amino and fatty acids restore hair from the inside out, while providing anti-aging benefits.

INGREDIENTS

Water, pHytoBlend (proprietary concentrate blend of 20 herbs in an aqueous base), Decyl Glucose, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Lauryl Glucose, Coco Polyglucose, Seaweed Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia, Mango, Lecithin, Sunflower Oil, Soya, Safflower Oil, Soy Amino Acids, Vitamin C, Wild Pansy, Sweet Clover, Apricot, Nasturtium, Nectarine, Passion Flower, SmartScent™, Citrus Seed Extract.

Evolvh smartcurl shampoo

This Evolvh shampoo is infused with essential nutrients for increased strength, shine, softness, and maximum hydration, and while it is designed for curly hair gals, I was advised by Evolvh that it’s formulated to be more nourishing than the UltraShine and great for dry hair gals.

Water, pHytoBlend (proprietary concentrate blend of 20 herbs in an aqueous base), Decyl Glucose, Disodium Sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl  Betaine, Lauryl Glucose, Coco Polyglucose, Kiwi Seed Oil, Almond Oil, Seaweed Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia, Mango, Lecithin, Sunflower Oil, Soya, Safflower Oil, Soy Amino Acids, Vitamin C, Wild Pansy, Sweet Clover, Apricot, Nasturtium, Nectarine, Passion Flower, SmartScent™, Citrus Seed Extract.

Evolvh ultrashine conditioner

The Evolvh ultrashine conditioner is too lightweight for my hair which needs the thickest creamiest type conditioner to feel nourished. But I’d recommend this for fine to normal hair and healthy hair. The conditioner contains active ingredients include wild pansy, sweet clover, and apricot extracts – all of which contain their proprietary phytoblend of nourishing antioxidants – plus amino and fatty acids.

Water, pHytoBlend (proprietary concentrate blend of 20 herbs in an aqueous base), Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Dicapryl Succinate, Brassica Glycerides, Palm Oil, Mango, Lecithin, Sunflower Oil, Soya, Safflower Oil, Soy Amino Acids, Vitamin C, Wild Pansy, Sweet Clover, Apricot, Nasturtium, Nectarine, Passion Flower, SmartScent™, Citrus Seed Extract.

evolvh smartcurl

Evolvh smartcurl conditioner

I do prefer the Evolvh SmartCurl cnditioner to the UltraShine conditioner. The smartcurl one is creamier than the Evolvh UltraShine and is more effective on my hair – note that it’s several dollars more than the UltraShine conditioner. Conditioners are more effective when I leave it on dry hair overnight and rinse out while shampooing my hair the next morning.

This shampoo and conditioner work well. I tried it on my wavy, thick hair that’s prone to frizzies and flyaways, and on my daughter’s very thick, very curly hair. I don’t think the conditioner is moisturizing enough for my daughter’s thick curls, but it was fine for my wavy hair. The scent is nice, but i think that it’s a little too strong in my opinion. Overall the products work well, but for that price they’re not something I would purchase in the future

Water, pHytoBlend (proprietary concentrate blend of 20 herbs in an aqueous base), Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Dicapryl Succinate, Brassica Glycerides, Palm Oil, Kiwi Seed Extract, Castor Oil, Mango, Lecithin, Sunflower Oil, Soya, Safflower Oil, Soy Amino Acids, Vitamin C, Wild Pansy, Sweet Clover, Apricot, Nasturtium, Nectarine, Passion Flower, SmartScent™, Citrus Seed Extract.

Evolvh UltraRepair Masque

I try to be as honest as possible and this Evolvh UltraRepair Mask is no exception. First thing I noticed with this mask is that, if you are sensitive to scents, it definitely doesn’t have a pleasant scent and can actually be off-putting so beware. But it’s the most nourishing in-shower product in the entire line with a high concentration of amino acids.

This is an intensive treatment for hair that has been compromised by color or bleach processing, heat styling, or environmental factors – especially wind and winter weather and is highly effective for smoothing coarse, curly or frizz-prone hair, and protecting hair from breakage, dehydration, tangles and split ends.

This one makes my hair softer and more manageable after drying. I like to maximize each precious use of this mask by leaving it on overnight and shampooing it out in the morning rather than leaving it in hair for 15 minutes in the shower.

evolvh smartcolor

Evolvh smartcolor shampoo & conditoner

The Evolvh SmartColor line, with its refreshingly sweet citrus scent, is designed specifically for color treated hair and preventing color from fading. I exclusively tested out both the shampoo and conditioner for 1-2 months to see if I noticed a difference. Truthfully, I couldn’t notice any major difference using this right after I did toner on my balayage. Perhaps it did extend the life of the toner, but it inevitably started to fade after several washes. I also don’t tend to shampoo my hair often – twice a week max.

Evolvh wonderbalm

This Evolvh hair balm is the most expensive product in the entire line at a whopping $69 and it’s a product that works for some and not for others. I feel that they reached a perfect consistency and texture with the formulation of this product – it’s perfectly slick and smooth, not too thin and not too thick.

On dry hair this product does not make a difference to my hair. It works better on completely wet, just got out the shower hair and my hair will dry smoother. If I need to blowdry my hair for a special occasion I apply this for extra heat protection.

Marlen of @sleepymermaidbeauty has fine, wavy hair with slight greasiness at the roots and this product did not work for her so please keep this in mind if you have her hair type. I definitely recommend purchasing a sample if you want to try this product before committing to full size.

evolvh body lotion

Ingredients: Coco-caprylate, diheptyl succinate, capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid copolymer*, hydrogenated rapeseed oil*, kiwi seed oil, castor oil, almond oil. * Eco-certified ingredients

Evolvh body wash

I love the foam concept of this body wash but I don’t love the huge cylinder shape of the packaging. Because it comes out as a foam it’s convenient to use hands if you don’t feel like using a loofah or other tool and it smells amazing.

Evolvh Body Lotion

This hydrating lotion has no faults to it and absorbs and dries quickly, leaves skin feeling soft and smooth and smells of uplifting grapefruit.

-Coconut Oil’s high antioxidant levels slow the harmful effects of free radicals in the body which prevents the damaging actions that lead to signs of aging.
-Shea Butter improves the look of elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It evens tone by improving the appearance of stretch marks, the appearance of hyperpigmentation and the appearance of acne scars.
-Mango Seed Butter encourages a more plump and tighter look and promotes a firmer appearance on skin. It is a natural source of vitamin A which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increasing skin’s overall youthful look.

Evolvh Body Butter

The Evolvh body butter is perfect if you want a body butter that isn’t greasy or oily at all. It feels more like a super buttery thick lotion than the usual organic body butters that feel more like an oil once melted onto skin. It also smells like grapefruit and absorbs very quickly into skin.
